Cadillac So am I the only person (along with my buddy, sister-in-law, and a few others) who smell Prince's unique and unmistakable funk all over "TheO7's" Condensate album? It's not like Prince has never given (produced) music for others to run with and take credit for....
Cadillac is classic Prince (it holds a candle to Little Red Corvette among great car songs). MD was always just the lover Prince's pimp-alter ego. Now that Prince is a JW, he can't officially use any of the colorful language that made some of his music great and makes Condesate so amazing.
MD and crew, it's nice to have a friend like Prince...

Cadillac is a wreck! It sounds like a car commercial over a funk beat! When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

If he could make the 07 record sound like that why can't HE sound like that anymore. I hear influence from back in the day...but he doesn't seem to know HOW to make a record like that anymore if his recent output means anything.

I'm a fan of Cadillac too. I think they all influenced each other, Prince and member of O7, over that Minneapolis funk, a good mix of old skool funk mixed in with some contemporary sounds, like a few tracks from 3121. All around great music. [Edited 12/18/11 12:00pm]

I feel like this is just "the opening act" for an album Prince will release in 2012. The problem with the awesome tracks on LotusFlow3r is they came out of nowhere (re: the "recent output" which I agree with you, in part, about). The 07's tracks are "almost" love songs (they're mainly/unabashedly about 1 night stands, they're classic seductive "rap songs" (as opposed to the angry bitter angst that dominates a lot of the most popular "rap music" these days). Not one of them is about being in love, which used to be a cornerstone of Prince's best tunes (i.e.: Joy in Repetition to The Beautiful Experience, If I Was Your Girlfriend, Adore, etc.), or being in love with life (i.e.: Starfish And Coffee, Play In The Sunshine, I Wonder U, Life Can Be So Nice, etc) which most ghetto-ized "rap music" isn't focussed on).
I feel like a great Prince album coming that makes us forget about the dearth periods of barely listen-able sounds.

"Cadillac" is one of the best tracks on the album Slick, cool, intoxicating Minneapolis funk! I hate the idea of having rappers on a tune, but if they had Snoop Dogg doing a rap on this track,it would be a major hit.

You are totally right on that. I actually wish that they used more live drums on the album period! But I still like the album Most things that I worry about, never happen anyway

I keep Feeling like that - and have for many years...it just hasn't materialized. I've stopped hoping. It will be a pleasant surprise if he ever drops a solid record again.

I was a little harsh on this album in another thread, mainly because everyone was raving about trendin. I actually thought Trendin sounded like something a crap boyband like backstreet boys or westlife would make. I will say however, after just listening to cadillac, my hopes for the rest of the album have shot up. Super track IMO.

Jimmy Jam actually came on this site and asked a few questions a couple years ago and, imo, he interpreted our answers into the production of the Condensate tracks. Particularly "Toast To The Party Girl", which sounds influenced by Baby, I'm A Star from the Purple Rain Live VHS. At the time, I suggested that song as one of the greatest examples of good Prince music, in response to one of his questions. They deliberately encorporated the classic feel of the 80's into the new music, that's why you may sense Prince's involvement. But it is extremely unlikely that Prince did anything on the record. Give props to Jam and Lewis for being amazing. [Edited 1/11/12 11:07am]

" MD and crew, it's nice to have a friend like Prince... [/quote]" pretty much bottom lines it. These guys came up together w/ the same dreams and P got the deal, and brought everybody else he could along through ALL of their issues. They clearly are still salty about some stuff but P built that into the matterial for them. It kinda sounds like the "hows the family" scene in PR. Hope Prince just dosent say a word, gets upn and plays the shit out of some new music again.
