Subliminal message on O7's Condensate album cover...

Carlcranshaw pointed this out on the 07 vs Prince thread...... look at Jesse's photo (far left), he appears to be wearing a Paisley shirt and extending his middle finger as if to say 'F U Prince'....?

I looked more closely at my album cover and this seems to confirm it...

Naughty but amusing....

I wouldn't put it past Jesse to do something like that. Photos like this are gone over many many times to make sure they are exactly correct. This photo is a composite of several different photos that probably didn't have all 7 of them standing together. Jesse has always been angry with Prince, so it wouldn't shock me if this is the case.

The more accurate subtext in the photo can be seen on Jerome who is basically saying "what time is it" with his watch.

THAT is the message they are probably trying to reflect.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

Yes, you are right.

Reading the biographies of Prince it's clear Jesse has always been one of the most frustrated members and the most vocal...

The only subliminal message I am getting from that album cover, is the one reminding me that Morris Day has got possibly the most punchable face I have ever seen.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Jesse look up to and respects Prince deeply. He literaly reps Prince in everything he does. Y'all are WAAAAYYYY out of pocket with this one. Look at the photo of Jesse in the liner notes. How is that photo not a nod of respect to Prince? Jesse is proud of his Prince connection. With that said, bruh is clearly giving Prince the finger on the cover of the album! But it's not just Jesse, the whole band seems to feel that love hate conflict with Prince. And rightfully so, given Prince's attempt to shut them down and block their comeback.

Jesse lived with Prince for a while and they have had a love/hate relationship so their feelings toward each other aren’t just on one level. There are days that he loves him like a brother, and there are days that he can’t stand him. I am basing this on countless interviews that have been published as well as personal interviews I’ve had with him over the years for Uptown magazine and other projects. Here is a typical quote from Jesse about Prince during an angry time:

“Prince is such an asshole. He’s scared of people rising to his level that he always tries to keep you down, don’t never let you do nothing. He played so many mind trips on us – which we had to take or be fired-that the stage was our only release. That’s why we (The Time) were such a treacherous band. When we hit the stage we had a serious mental grudge. Some nights we’d knock on his dressing room door and say “we’re going to slaughter you!”

Jesse Johnson (1986) quoted in Sky Magazine (UK) July 1990 pg. 9

Whether the middle finger was meant or not, it isn’t a stretch to think that there might be anger that day regarding Prince. Personally, I doubt it was meant as a FU gesture, but there is a history of good times/bad blood between them that can’t be denied.

You need to really get a life and get off of this topic. These guys are 50 something years old and I doubt they give a shit about all this as much as some of the fans do. P is doing his thing and the Time is doing their thing.

I like both groups and could care less about the behind the curtain nonsense.

I love both bands too. Just trying to shed some light on the subject by referencing their interviews with others and their personal interviews with me for various projects. Hope it helps understand them and their love/hate dynamic a little bit better. Happy to help out.

The only thing I notice is that Morris is doing the discount double-check move:

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Incorrect. Madhouse Man is talking sense here, he knows his subject.

Its naive to think Prince not allowing the Time their name is not going to cause friction.

It's hardly 'behind the curtain', its on the front cover of their CD for crying out loud!!!
