Sheena Easton was already a big star when Prince worked with her in 1985 ("Sugar Walls").

Kristin Scott Thomas did NOT become a star because of Prince or UTCM lol In fact, she probably tried to downplay her involvement in that flop movie.

Vanessa Marcil was already a popular soap opera star ("General Hospital") by the time Prince worked with her in 1993.

Funnily enough - and I'm not looking for another argument with you - Kristen Scott Thomas was interviewed on the BBC or something a couple of years ago about her career, and she went out of her way to thank Prince for giving her a big break. She admitted Under The Cherry Moon wasn't the best film in the world but was very polite about it and very generous towards Prince.

I'd agree it didn't make her a star but she certainly gave the impression she believed it opened doors for her.

I don't think anyone asked her if Prince's kissing was as bad as it looked though! smile

clapping

Finally someone that is not trying to condemn Prince every chance they get with some facts.

I know Prince didn't make these women stars. It takes a lot of hard work to get to that. I was just exagerating about Kim & Whitney just to push the buttons of these unhappy let's put Prince down and not give him any credit kiljoy call themselves fan people here.

But to me it just seems that mostly every women he gets involved with studio, acting or otherwise becomes very successful afterwards. It was just an observation. That is all. People here on this site seem so unhappy with themselves so they put Prince down to make themselves feel better about there pitiful lives.

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

OR they have genuine criticism of Princes output and find that his behaviour is unacceptable to their adult sensisbilities. Deal is.... I grew up - like many others - really loving Prince's music and whole creative vibe. His talent is undeniable, he also has a pretty clear trail of how he treated people in his organization. Kirsten Scott Thomas had one dealing with him...that is toitally diferent. What women do you think became long term popular thanks to Prince? Most unknowns had their moment WITH him - then nothng after. The only ones who have had continued success already had their own to start with (except those with actual musical talent). I have no clue how you can psychoanalyze people en masse to say that just because they are not ass kissing Prince on any regular basis are unhappy with their lives. I, however, see people who refuse to deal with reality and continue a "hero worship" defense for Prince. He is a person. People make mistakes. Does he REALLY need defending? The big issue seems to be that he likes to present a public face differently than he actualy behaves...which is probably why he gets so much flack from fans. Don't forget - being a fan of someones art does not mean you can't be critical. And if someone chooses to put their behaviour on display ...how is it not okay to make comments on that?

Oh come on! Vanessa Marcil? You think playing puker #1 in The Undertaker made her a star? lol

Yeah, because Prince has sooo much pull in Hollywood. Riiiight. rolleyes

Sheena Easton was already famous.

Kristin Scott-Thomas was acting before UTCM, although I'm pretty sure it was her abilities that carried her and not Prince. But, we'll say he gave her a break - he didn't make her a star.

Prince made Sheila a solo artist but that's it. She comes from a famous family and was a popular musician in her own right.

He made Vanity a singer, but it didn't get her acting roles.

He made Carmen.

U have ur opinion. But Prince was instrumental in each and everyone one those beautiful women success. Yes Sheila had a career b 4 Prince. But PRINCE MADE HER A STAR. CASE CLOSED! Sheena to. Vanessa did more than a cameo in "The Undertaker" sir. She has had major roles in the shows "Las Vegas" & "General Hospital" since then.

Umm, Sheena Easton had worldwide hits and was a pop darling before she met Prince. Even my southern born, Baptist raised mother had her 45 records and used to follow her stories in Star magazine confused People knew of her waaay before that silly "U Got The Look" ever came out, and quite frankly her her stardom was achieved as a soft am/ adult contemporary performer (and Bond Theme songstress) first long before she evr step foot in those new romantic get-ups our boy was so keen on making everybody wear. bored2
