Morris Day & The Time - 11/11/11 in San Francisco http://www.sunsetpromotions.com/event/53461/
puzzled why it's not an Original 7ven show.
Who's in this particular lineup then?
Who's going?

It's "Part-Time", meaning Morris, Jellybean & Monte w/Freeze on Bass & Tori Ruffin on Guitar. Not bad, but i just saw "Full-Time" Nov 5th in Minneapolis!!!! FUNKIN' AMAZONG!!!!!!

Don't feel bad, you're gonna see a good show in Morris Day & The Time. That band is tight also. Don't sleep. I was lucky enough to have seen both bands: "The Original 7ven" and "Morris Day & The Time". So it's still a win, regardless.

^^In one of the interviews with the Original 7ven, it was said that "Morris Day and The Time" had a few shows already booked up to February of next year. I guess that's why The Original 7ven tour is supposed to be next year. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I ended up going to the show! It was my first Time concert and it was such an awesome experience. The only original members where Morris, Jellybean, and Monte.
Highlights of the evening included:
1.When Morris referenced dining in San Francisco in Cool, his emphasis on the word/location was a nice touch. Actually the song is general was incredible. I paid $1000 for the Purple VIP tickets when Prince was in town and his rendition of Cool has NOTHING on The Time's...even if this was only The "Part-Time." Can't wait till The Original 7ven come to The Bay.
2. Some dude in the crowd brought his pet snake and at one point Morris yells out, "What the fuck is that? To be honest I thought it was my dick!"
3. When the Jerome substitute brought up the girls to the stage. The Band had the milfs and hipster chicks shaking their asses, even the prudes lost their inhibitions. Loved that part!
4. Monte Moir...he's just C-O-O-L. HORNS!
5. Gigolos Get Lonely Too. 777-9311. My Drawers. Girl. Oak Tree. Especially 777-9311's bassline! Freeze did such an awesome job on the bass.
6. The references to their new album Condensate! I was half expecting them to play #trendin' especially since Morris took a break early in the show to paraphrase the "we don't sweat we condensate" skit from their new album.
I ended up paying 75ish for each ticket (I bought two) which was sort of a bummer. All I think those tickets gave me access to was an upper level at the venue which was further away from the stage. I should have just done the 25/30 dollar tickets....it's not like they had designated seating for different price points. It's standing room and a first come first serve type of deal.

The show at Yoshi's was better last year because there were floor seats and tables. Sounds like the same fun show though.

Tawk dude. I don't know why folks are so bitter towards the touring band. They act like these other dudes Freeze and Tori Ruffin are some amateurs that just got out of grad school. The touring band lays down the funk too. I too yearn to see the original guys together but the touring band isn't chopped liver and Jellybean and Monte Moir still plays with the touring band and Monte and Jellybean still kicks ass too. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

The "Morris Day & The Time" band is just as funky as "The Time" aka "The Original 7ven". Both are great bands to experience. Of course, it's nothing like "The Time" aka "The Original 7ven" but, you're still gonna enjoy a great show in "Morris Day & The Time". The interesting thing is no matter what people can say, the "Morris Day & The Time" brand has held it down and in part has kept "The Time" brand alive. It's been 30 Years for "The Time" aka "The Original 7ven" and it's been 15-16 years for the "Morris Day & The Time" band/brand. So, it's still a win.
