You're welcome. Someone has put it on Youtube:
You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Now wait a minute. Cool is their song, they can play it any damn time they want to.
I agree with you they could have showed Jesse more though.

I think COOL is their signature song! I think so anyway Watch me talk about Prince - http://www.youtube.com/us...ature=mhee

It was okay. Don't think it could touch the last 5 prince Leno performances at all

dayum, some fans are harsh!. This was a great performance although what's up with that stage / cage!. Looking forward to seeing a lot more of them.

I thought this performance was pretty cool! I do agree with whoever it was that said the mix wasn't the greatest, but the band and choreography was on point! And I liked how they mixed a bit of Cool into the song! On top of that, Morris looks GREAT! People always talkin' about how great Prince looks for his age (he does, in case anyone thinks I'm trying to hate on him), but Morris looks just as good!
They still need to be hitting more talk shows and getting the word out more about them. The Soul Train Awards ain't even until late November!
LONG LIVE THE ORIGINAL 7VEN!

Please tell me how often The Time have transitioned into Cool for a brief moment only to return to the song they were playing before?
I would have to guess never (I could be wrong here), seeing how Cool is arguably their most popular song and they always play a full version of it live (albeit a shorter 'radio cut' version).
They stole that from the song 100 MPH, which was crafted after all ties were severed between the group and Prince. Riffing on Cool during that song was a staple of Mazarati's live performances.
Swagger jackers.
+ Watching it again with headphones on I could hear Terry's bass a lot better and I still liked Morris' vocals for the most part. The close up on the backup singers shortly after the one minute mark was just laughable imo. Like, who the fuck are these bitches?!!?! We want Jesse! Although he did look a bit uninterested when he was visible. I can't blame him, I wouldn't want to be there promoting that album either.
You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

I don't know why people respond to trolls. Waste of time. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Exactly. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Sorry but that's the biggest STRETCH I've heard in a long time about them stealing that from 100 mph and when Mazarati did use that as a staple of their live set it was a nod to who??? Themselves??? Um...no. Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

INdeed - but I think that if everyone refrained from destroying trolls, this site would evaporate because there would be nothing written here.

Honestly, I didn't love this performance. It was okay, but not what I was expecting. All of the dance moves and the antics just seemed forced. It didn't feel like thier natural swag, but like they were trying desparately to remind everyone of who they were.
1. The extremely long introduction by Jimmy Jam 2. The mirror just arbitrarily there 3. The side to side dance thrown into the mix 4. COOL just thrown into the mix 5. and it seemed like Morris was a bit...nervous?
I don't know. It just gave off a weird vibe. Even my Dad who used to love The Time said, "Wow, that was not that great, was it?"
I'm still looking forward to a concert in my area though. I think they are probably better when they don't have to try to pack everything into a 3-min. window. To be fair, they don't have the luxury of just coming out and performing their new single like everyone else. Because they've been stripped of their name, they have to first establish who they were and attempt to establish who they are all in the same limited span of time.

Best thing about it to me was watching and being fascinated with Jerome's energy! I mean, a split? Alrighty then! Other than that, it was just "The Time" from days gone by. Not much evolution...... Also, I don't expect much from television appearances and MickyDolenz is right; Tonight and most shows like it focus almost exclusively on the lead singer, unless someone is playing a really long solo. Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.

1. The intro was a little long - they should have just introduced Morris to the stage 2. The mirror didn't bother me - that's a Time staple, and one of Jerome's trademarks 3. Side to side dancing is a trademark. I wouldn't expect to see it during every song in a concert, but in a one-song performance it fits. 4. COOL didn't "bother" me, but it wasn't necessary. They're trying to prove that their new music is good, but then sample an old (Prince-written) song? 5. Morris was NOT nervous. He was completely in his element, and owned that stage. Like Prince, I don't think it's easy for any of them to do all the moves anymore due to age, but he did a great job.
The mix was probably off. I was in the Tonight Show audience for Prince's Musicology performance back in 2004. He played Musicology (the song) and it was perfect. However, after the show was done taping Jay Leno asked everyone to stick around, because Prince wanted to re-perform that song due to the sound being off. We didn't hear anything off, but he did. My point: what the studio audience heard might have been different from what we heard on TV.

^^^ You are entitled to your opinion. But in my opinion, all of those antics were desperate reminders of who they once were. It would have been fine to do the mirror OR the side-to-side step OR COOL--just not all three, plus try to do a new song plus try to give a looooonnngggg intro. All of that seemed forced to me.
Again, I'm one of those who like the new album and I'm glad to see them back in the spotlight. But I want to see who they have grown to be. I'm not as much interested in who they once were. I'm not saying they should never play their old catalogue, but if you only have 3 min. on stage, try to showcase what you are currently selling.
I don't know...maybe I just needed to be there. Performances come off so much better in person.

Jesse is underrated and most people do not even know who he is unless they are part of the community and over the age of 45. Gotta get that dough I know but brother should be on his own supporting his album. Verbal Penetration is 100 times the record Condensate is, the lyrics are shit. I joined the org again hyped about the release. What a letdown. Morris should stick with the fair performances.

Yeah, like The B-52's or Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, it's just fun music. I usually don't pay much attention to lyrics anyway. the intro sounds like strawberry lake 2 me man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Now I remember the org days and the mindset lmao. Tweetie Pies? These guys are in their 50's take it up a level.
You dog Prince for his latest music but praise Condensate? I searched the threads, no one talking with vigor over Verbal Penetration and that was an album with FUNK blues and meaningful lyrical content.
I don't blame Jesse, I'd keep my hat down while playing with these dudes too. Monte and Gary are cool as hell and respect their talents.
Wasn't there a song on the CD that actually said my faithful is not your faithful? I can see it doing well in today's 'charts' because it belongs in the same bin as the other garbage on the airwaves.
