Why not actually watch the dvd and form your opinion from that??? Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Amazing how people who dont know Prince know exactly what Prince's problem is these days - and armed with knowledge from a comeback album that is half filled with embarassing sellout pop from a legendary funk band.

Your theory makes sense. Runawayslave defends Prince and only makes negative comments about the Time, despite trying to claim to be a fan.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Runawayslave is one of those fans who thinks that Prince invented music and nobody else has talent.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Hee-hee. I think it's pretty funny and smart actually.
As guys in advancing years and waistlines - yeah, they're sweating in their suits on stage a bit, but they're too COOL to sweat, so they condensate, like a COOL bottle of champagne. Huh? Huh? That works for me!

this coming from someone that obviously can't remember or wasn't around when Prince was being accused of not being funky anymore hence the original name of the black album was called the FUNK BIBLE 2 silence those that claimed he wasn't funky anymore. and 2 add insult, u claim 2 know funk but u can't hear none on condensate..damn ur funny! man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Because I'm not paying for this DVD/CD just for the sake of curiosity. Besides from what I gather they don't go into any detail, so why bother?

This site is like watching that Micheal Jackson documentary about the fans with almost no grip on the real world camped outside during his trial. Sad and hilarious at the same time.

no grip? that's funny coming from a runawayslave
do u need a tissue 2 wipe away the tears cause u got bitch slapped into realizing u have no merits in your words or challenged 2 prove ur points and u come back with NADA! man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Why? Why would they need to use the same recycled name? Why would that not be reason enough to use something new? Only a few fans know who Flyte Tyme is and it wouldn't make one bit of difference in using it and using something new. Flyte Tyme did not have JJ in it...so, they aren't Flyte Tyme, either. Flyte Tyme is used by Jimmy & Terry on their productiions. Its not that hard. Its not that far-fetched, either. At this point, they are only playing to their fan base. Its not like they are going after the tween-agers.

Some of you need to grow up. Why should we all be brainwashed and have the same opinions as yours? This is a FORUM. A place where people can agree and disagree. Some of the comments of Condensate lovers are Really childish. I think Condensate is a nice little funk commercial CD. Have I insulted The Time members? If you're amazed by this CD, that's fair enough and I'm pleased for you.

jeez so much P negativity - started on page 1!
Why not discuss the tracks, and suely there was more to the dvd than to7 reference to P?
I swear the org threads always end up descending into a flame war. Tiresome

Well by that logic there was no real reason for the hurt feelings (from anyone: fans/or band members) over not being able to use the name The Time either. See you can't have it both ways.
And I know the name Flyte Tyme is the name of JJ & TL productions I just wanted someone to acknowledge the notion that business is business. P didn't give permission to use The Time for business reasons. The bandmembers didn't want to use name Flyte Time for business reasons.

I just received "Condensate" today, I know almost two weeks late. I haven't listened to the cd, but I know it's funky because it's "The Time." What had me laughing was the dvd and how Prince treated "The Time" during the "Controversy" and "1999" tours. I have only one thing to say.
THAT DAMN, PRINCE!!!!!!! He always have to be controlling, which is why "The Time" couldn't use the band's original name since Prince owns it. He must have embraced the lessons he learned from Warner Brothers.
I digress, and as someone that was in around when "The Time" was released in 1981. It was a hit. All they played on the radio was "Get It Up." I living in Inglewood, CA during this era and I swear, I must have wore my cassette out. When I first saw Prince in concert, which was the "1999 Tour" a year later, I distinctly wore baggy cords to the concert because Morris Day didn't like blue jeans. I loved Prince, but "The Time" made you want to dance and they were getting a lot of attention. Prince saw that not only on the stage, but in the reviews.
Prince will always be my favorite musician, he has given us a lot musically. And he did give us "The Time."
Thank you, Prince. And thank you, Morris Day for writing the music to "Party Up" that got the ball rolling for "The Time" to come into existence.

It's a very well put together documentary. They cover all of the basics of their history as well as give great stories of how the band was formed. They even got everyone's point of view on what was going on at the time.
There are segments where they are all sitting around a table (looks like in a restaurant) talking about the past and the present, as well as individual interviews. They also cover the projects they did over the last 20 years as solo acts.
They tell a few stories dealing with Prince, Alexander O'Neal, Vanity 6 and members of the Revolution throughout the documentary that are funny as hell. A few of them state things in the documentary that Prince said to them personally that have never been discussed in public (that I can recall, anyway).
Bootleg footage of the 1999 tour is incorporated into the documentary. I'm still wondering if Prince is upset about that. There is footage show of The Time and Vanity 6's set, but not of Prince's set.
To me, they don't paint Prince as a bad person. Even when they are describing the firing of Jam and Lewis, they didn't take the low road. Even when they were discussing the name change, you could see that Morris was highly pissed during the taping, but Jerome turned it into a positive.
I suggest you grab it. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

@daPrettyman
Thanks for clarifying the dvd doc content. AsI suspected TO7 have plenty to say uther than about the name change. Some really bitter/ spiteful orgers are ironically undermining their positivity about Condensation rather than educating those of us who havent seen the doc on it's content.
