Andy allo might be the second coming of erykah badu but the problem is she isn't being heard & that is not prince's fault. on the tip of an alternative soul career, prince has done more alternative soul songs than anyone who could be categorized that way. I believe in general,the people who are intended 2 blow up do so. If any former Prince protege wants 2 blame him as the reason they didn't make it, they ought 2 take a hard look at themselves. Teena Marie did a protege album with Rick James in the early 80s. It didn't stop her from being a respected artist in her own right. I bet u The Time, Sheila E. & The Family had no problem doing a so called Prince protege album. They are still making records & touring 25 years later. On this Halloween eve let me quote Stevie Wonder-"Superstition ain't the way" If Andy Allo has what it takes, she will not be cursed from associating with Prince nor from doing a protege album. But she will be blessed by the platform he affords her & by exposure to his boundless musical gifts.

Yea I understand But if I was Andy I wouldn't do a protege album either! I would do my own album and have him contribute in some of the songs. That way I could have my own creative thing happening and not have the typical "protege album" saying over my head

But just because in this unique circumstances,that should be andy allo's course of action does not justify the blanket statement that doing a protege album with prince would be the kiss of death. So andy allo should do her own material- not because 2 do prince's songs would be the kiss of death- but because she can.
