I'm curious to hear what others thought of the show before I give my impressions.

For now i'll tell you that they were introduced by former BET Video Soul host Donnie Simpson.
I had 5th row center seats, not far from Inglewood homeboy and Boston Celtic forward Paul Pierce.

The Original 7ven (Formerly The Time) Rock 1st Show!

In the 1st show as The Original 7ven, The Band Formerly Known As The Time took us to "Strawberry Lake" to kick things off.

They then went into a multitude of hits featuring "Get it Up", "The Stick", "Cool", Jerk Out", "Skillet", "777-9311" and "Trendin'"(video coming soon) the latest from the Original 7ven.

Donnie Simpson introduced The Original 7ven, noting it was the very first show with that name.

Aside from a sound issue at first (It is Club Nokia, so it expected) The OG7 brought it. The band also played "Fishnet" and "Oak Tree" 2 songs released as a solo artist by Morris Day.

In the middle of the show, Jesse Johnson took over to show he is one of the baddest guitarists in the land. Performing "Free World", Can You Help Me?" and "I Want To Be Your Man" along with some great solo work accompanying him with Jerome Benton coming out a time or two.

The band then went into "Gigalos Get Lonely Too" and then bringing up quite a few sexy socialites if I do say so myself.

They closed with "The Bird" and Jungle Love" which left the crowd condensating for sure.

It was a high energy show and it was great to see all of them perform together. My first and only time seeing them all together was for a taping for The Tonight Show With Jay Leno a couple of years ago before their shows in Las Vegas.

Coming up next for the band whose new CD "Condensation" dropped this week, is The Tonight Show With Jay Leno October 27th, along with upcoming shows in Minneapolis and New York.

These are some of the greatest musicians in all the land. The term real music by real musicians most def applies to them. Please support real music by buying the CD and just like them, we are sure you will be "Trendin'" soon as well.

Thanks for the love guys and the great show.-DocFB

Ugh. WHY oh why would he be touring with Half-Time in the middle of this resurgence with the Originals?? Let them go until EVERYTHING here has taken its complete course.

Becuz that is his bread & butter. He has to make money some how that is his job. Some of of U r so clueless about an entertainers lifestyle. He suppose to just not work at all becuz of The Original 7ven?

I will agree that it was confusing(4some not me)) when "The Original The Time" went on a mini tour a few years ago. It was hard 4 some to distinguish both bands. But now I understand that Morris has to feed his family somehow. Just like when people think that Prince should have kept The Revolution 2gether after a hundred years & not give other talented musicians a chance 2 work with him. Clueless!

Yeah, we're the "clueless" ones. rolleyes Nobody mentioned that he should STOP performing with them altogether, but just that he shouldn't perform with them until this entire Original 7ven campaign has run its course. Then someone pointed out that it was likely this date was booked before the Original 7ven campaign was set in stone.

It was gr8 seeing the original members doing what they do again. I love that twin city sound with the heavy layered keyboard and scratchy guitar with heavy funky bass. Jerome is a fool. They sung all there hits even do I like Prince version of "Cool" better. But the show brought back so many memories. Jesse's guitar playing was brilliant.Jesse should be on Prince level. Overall a really good show.I plan to attend more.

The new album was just released.I think they wanna wait awhile before performing alot of the new songs. They have a major tour scheduled for 2012...that's when they should add a bunch of the new songs.

"Trendin" sounded really good live.I love how JJ&TL produced the new album. No one never mentions JJ(JimmyJam) keyboard arrangements. They rival Prince's.Jerome was walking around outside the venue b4 the show. I also heard the soundcheck. Plus saw them deliver brand new casio keyboards. I like the technical side.giggle

Yeah that philosophy works so well for Prince why not copy. Release a new cd, play old stuff live and then when the album is old play some songs from it. Same managers I guess. I miss the days where artists actually played their new music.

No! When I went to the box office b 4 the show to be nosy .There were plenty of tickets available. But a promoters job is to fill venues by show time.It was more filled by showtime. But not sold out. So I'm assuming it was filled by other ways.

It was like seeing old friends again. wink I enjoyed it. Morris is still Morris, the guys are still funky, Jerome is still dancing. I was surprised to see Jerome do the splits. If they come back this way, I'm going again.

I stopped at the Nokia Theater first, forgetting that the OG 7 was at the Nokia Club. Roger Daltry was playing at the Nokia Theater. lol Glad I didn't end up in there by mistake.

I am impressed that you are so young and you have an appreciation for

this music. I'm with you on My Drawers. I would have lost it hearing this song

live. I like this set. I got to see Morris Day and the Time last year in Charlotte but

i hope the original guys stop by and perform some of the new tracks. I bet Strawberry

Lake was great live.

I sure hope they play more of the new stuff. I have seen this show minus the Jesse set for what 10+ years now. Original members or not its not much new on the table. C'mon guys. Play the new material. I dont want to see the same ol same ol show/songs. Starwberry Lake, Trendin are good but add Toast to the Party Girl, If I was Yo Man, Sick, Faithful, AYDKMN, go Home..., Rolepaly. These are all CLASSICS already!! Hell, even One Step would be nice in place of My Drawers. We can see the other show anytime we want with the Morris Day and The Time group.

Now they can easily do a show like that and it would please everyone. Its a good mix of new and old. They are more than welcome to add more to it too if they like. Someone send them this. We need a special tour because we may not see them again although I hope they are back for good

gotta agree with you there. I like some of the new stuff equally as the old. As a matter of fact I could lose the entire Ice Cream Castles nod..I personally thought that was mostly a contracual obligation thing...at least from the material. They slund like they are LOVING the new material and it show on the record.
