V10LETBLUES

Madhouse outtakes question.

I love the First Madhouse, the second one a like but not as much as the first. The two aborted 24's are not that great to me, I especially think later 24 is god-awful loaded with corny 90's dredge.

I just recently came across some Prince instrumentals that sound more in keeping with the first Madhouse. One track especially features the same standout drumming with the same feel as the first Madhouse. The drumming is contagious and propels the track. Like the first Madhouse, it is a minimalist track that features horns, guitars and keys. And a violin/fiddle? It ends with a baby crying under an eery atmospheric synth. Anybody which track I am talking about or where it's from?

Are there any early Madhouse boots floating around? Pre 90's material?

Well, there's a few Prince unreleased instrumentals from the mid-to-late 80's that are circulating. What's the running length? 6.47? There's an instrumental possibly from the Madhouse sessions of that length, but it would be from the '87 sessions for 24.

I'm not at home right now but when I get home I'll have a look through which instrumentals I have and see if I have any more info.

the running time is 8.24

The live madhouse stuff is outstanding as well. A package of the best Prince instrumentals is long overdue more than deserving.

I think that may be Xpectation from album of the same name. Released as download only in 2003. It's Prince, not Madhoue.

That you two for your help. I had kinda gave up on Prince in the late 90's early 2000's and never got around to exploring Xpedition. I love that track. It think it has more meat and potatoes than the soft jazz Prince was exploring in the 90's.
