I couldn't really tell from that little snippet but now that I've heard the whole song I'm diggin it...the video is cool too,
These guys along with Sheila and Tamar are the only associated artist I would ever spend any $$ on.
Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.
the song title is #trendin. the # sign is what make topics trend on twitter.. so ya they are referring to trending on twitter

Well no, because if you notice now, the hash tag symbol has evolved beyond Twitter. It's even been used/said in video comments from somebody or in an email or in a comment section of an article or post. So, the hash tag is no longer exclusive to Twitter.
But now that I've heard the entire song, I did hear Morris say "Tweet it up, y'all!," so he's definitely talking about Twitter too. Ahh whatever! It's definitely got a hook, and I can see Tom Joyner and Michael Baisden playing this a few times. They're album release date is less than a month away, but I don't think they've put enough buzz out about their reunion. I'm hoping to see them on Leno, Letterman, definitely Fallon, and making a few more appearances as well. Let them show Prince how to run a REAL PR campaign. Hopefully.

Prince knows how to run a PR compaign already. 2004 "Musicolgy" best PR campaign in entertainment history. Lotusflow3r also....
will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.
The catchiness of the song, and the topicality of the subject is going to get it major exposure.
Be prepared to hear a snippet of this all over the TV machine and everywhere else. It just may be a Macarena type hit.
The music sounds nothing like The Time other than the keyboard solo reminiscent of 80's Time songs, but it is catchy not doubt about it. The word catchy seems to be the key word used by everyone here describing it.

Yes, it's the catchiness and the lyrics touching on various forms of social media (Twitter/FB/YT/Blog, etc.)used by many in society today, as well as, their interest in who is (i.e. celebrity, etc) the latest news/gossip item of the day trending in the media/or on the internet. Not to mention many scorned men/women resulting to many of those forms of social media, as a weapon to get revenge against someone they feel they've been hurt by in a relationship or by other means. I wouldn't be surprised if this song gets a lot of airplay, as some here have said. We shall see.

The "best PR campaign in entertainment history"?? See, this is why I just can't take what you say seriously. Bias much? And don't even get started about Lotusfuckup. The website was a complete travesty, and it was solely designed to promote that God-awful album. You had to sit there and play games and guess the PW to even sign up and spen your own money on a subscription. A high ass subscription, mind you, that didn't nearly live up to its value. He was done with it in about two months.
And by the way, AEG was the one who devised and ran that 2004 PR campaign. but, let's get this thread back to who it belongs, The Original 7ven.

Radio airplay, commercials, anything about Twitter. This is kinda genious. "They talkin about me..they talkin about me" Yup!!

Yep. But the tune does get obnoxious REAL quick. That's why I mentioned that it sounded like a Macarena type hit. Catchy, silly and obnoxious.
I wonder what made the group choose to release this record on Saguaro Road Records. I thought LA Reid and his label were the front runners, for some reason. Was it a masters ownership issue? Did SRR offer more money upfront/better budget or a better promotional campaign?
Just curious.
BTW, other artists on the label include Adam Hood, Edwin McCain, Joan Osborne, Patty Loveless, Rebecca Lynn Howard, and The Blind Boys of Alabama.
Wow,it looks like this project is full speed ahead! I'm glad that they came up with a new name, although it's a shame that Prince had to be such a prick about it Anyway...bring on the jams!!

Yes! The "best PR campaign in entertainment history. Musicology with the giving away each cd with each concert ticket therefore putting the album in the top ten was brilliant. So brilliant that billboard changed the rules so no artist can ever do that again. It was Prince giving the finger to Billboard. I feel that was his best promotion out of any album he released.
LotuFlow3r the one off deal with Target. The three shows in one night here in LA. The three Leno appearances. Put LotusFlow3r at number 2 with only ONE RETAILER. That is amazing. The website fiasco maybe it wasn't a good idea. But it got a lot of fans an easy way of getting good seats including Leno & Ellen tickets without the hassle of dealing with Ticketmaster. That alone to me was worth it.
Now back to The Original 7ven. If "#Trendin" becomes a hit(which it will since there no other songs that detail social networking as well as this) or any other single off "Condensate". It wlll bring to the forefront about the name change. They will have to explain it. To me this doesn't make Prince look too good.

I disagree. Most people do not know that Prince was responsible for so many bands. It will make Prince look even more bad-ass to people that didn't know.
The snippets on amazon don't sound very convincing to me. It seems as if I'm going to skip that one.
BTW: IMO it's pretty understandable that Prince doesn't allow bands like "The Time" or "The Family" use their former name. Back then they were Prince's creations. Without his involvement it's a totally different story!

Well creatively it will add to his prolific genius nature & may shock some that he recorded all that music himself. But peeps never look at the positive side & how gifted he is. They want to know the scandalous & controling side & will try to paint him as selfish. I mean his latest tour the main focus was Prince kicking Kardashian off stage or banning Whitney from going on stage with him(which wasn't true). They never reported in mainstream media how well Prince is still dancing and singing and playing killer guitar on that tour. Or that he donated a lot of money to various charities during this last tour. The press is only interested in low down dirty scandal . That is what sells magazines.
But then maybe The Original 7ven will just let the music speak 4 itself & avoid the obvious questions.

Little bit like ex Coca Cola workers who start brewing their own stuff with same labels

Precisely - it is ridiculous to say this makes Prince look bad.
I am not impressed with the single. I had much higher hopes for these guys. It seems like they are trying too hard to sound "modern".
Indeed - they are in their 50s now. No veteran artists ever comes off authentically trying to sound current and adhere to the new sounds that came after their time.

"Strawberry Lake" sounds like a Sly & The family Stone song. I think they should have just released just 6 or 7 songs like they did with the first two albums & made them longer jam sessions.

The only one that comes to my mind is Bowie, who did a nice leap to the modern sound & feel and got away with it (imho)
yeah I just listened to the clips and I just went from being jacked about the release to not even going to waste my time with it. Sounds like pure garbage to me. I will save my money
