Really, i'm quite a big fan of all the Madhouse material, apart from the '93 version of "24" I don't think there are any tracks that I dislike.
If you are enjoying the albums, you may also like the Madhouse rehearsal session that is circulating, it's very funky and is on the purefunk label.

All instruments except sax and flute on 8 are performed by Prince.

I absolutely love the way the drums sound on this album. They stand out in a good way. 7 and 6 are my faves.
Prince on drums? Are we absolutely sure about that? The drumming sounds very Sheila-esque, especially her signature end.
Madhouse 8 on my short list of all-time best Prince albums. [Edited 9/2/11 13:50pm]

This thread put me in the mood for Madhouse. I Just listened to 1, and if that's Prince on drums, he is a far better drummer than anyone gives him credit for. It's totally bad-ass. The drums on 8 don't just keep time, they are INTEGRAL to the compositions themselves. The odd manic patterns and charismatic flourishes of the drumming throughout bring this album to another level.

Yes, 100% sure. The creation of these albums has been very well documented.

I agree.
It was the same with Bobby Z on the instrumental Loring Park sessions, the drumming on those tracks sound a lot more complicated than what Bobby sounded during The Revolution. He was/is a great drummer.

"15" is my absolute favorite....."Hey man, you got a job!"...... (Madhouse 16) "A united state of mind will never be divided
The real definition of unity is 1 People can slam their door, disagree and fight it But how U gonna love the Father but not love the Son? United States of Division"
