Is it just me or is Larry Graham a complet arse hole. This guy used to be cool, he invented a whole new way of playing the base. People copied him and looked up to him. That was then, now he grates on my nerves, if he ever comes knocking on my door with his JW witness I will pop a cap in his ass (a metaphorical cap in his real ass as I don't own a firearm)

Somebody here mentioned that Lovesexy was as preachy as TRC. That's true, but Lovesexy wasn't as precise in a specific relgious context as TRC is.

I hope Prince gives up the notion that all the people who support his career will reallt take seriously the crap he sings about when he preaches!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds this slightly annoying and condescending.

His supportes are from many different faiths, and he should have the foresight to respect that.

I find Larry Graham very un-cool!, he is a good bass player but I don't enjoy his singing at all...

larry graham played a great set during the new power soul concert i saw at wembly arena in 1998

he had his white outfit on with the big hat he came right out into the crowd playing the bass looking and more specifically sounding very cool!!

the 1000 crowd seemed to be very happy

thats the only time ive ever seen or heard him in the flesh and he seemed pretty darn ok to me

what he is like sat at home with the family or at a pray meeting i havent got a fucking clue and i doubt anyone else posting here has either

I am not desputing his talent, I have a few Graham Central Station albums and some Sly and the Family Stone albums. he invented the twang twang bass playing method. But the influence he has had on prince, I mean changing the words to Purple Rain, The Cross & Joy In Repetition is all down to him no doubt. I wouldn't be too sure about Prince deciding to study with JW's I bet you Larry was pretty pushy, I know Prince said they are not allowed to swear in front of him. Who tells Prince ot to swear and gets away with it Larry "fu**ing" Graham thats who. They don't have to be crap musicians to be ass holes, look at Billy Corgan, amazing talent, but the blokes a wanker.

I think that Larry Graham is bad, but no worse than the rest of his clean souless 'funk workout' backing band. Just watch the millenium concert DVD (Jam of the year? i forget). You can see that his entire backing band is lame.

In my opinion, the NPG were the worst thing to happen to Prince ever. Either that, or when he started incorperating pathetic hip hop scrathes (the pope come to mind) into his songs.

How can you hate someone you don't even know? People complaining about the influence LG has on Prince as if that's a bad thing. So what the man's a JW because he chose to be, perhaps with the help of LG, who knows. We surely don't. After all the things that Prince has been through in his life, instead of finding satisfaction in vices like alcohol and drugs he found it in God. When did God become detrimental? If you can't be happy for Prince being happy then you're just not happy and looking for anyone to blame for his religious decisions in HIS life. I mean think about it, You all are made because he made a decision to better his life and decided not to be sexual, and vulgar anymore, from his lyrics to the way he's dressed. Does that really make sense?
Although I'm not a religious person or a fan of LG's, but if LG's influence/friendship is what kept Prince alive then thank God for LG.

Larry is a Very Talented Cat IMHO.please Remember Prince sought Him out not the other way around.also He has been a Father Figure for Prince.it's not just Music here with the two it was a time of need for Prince I truly believe.

I love Larry Graham and what Larry Graham has done for music.
The only thing I hate is that album that has Prince all over it.

Hating on Larry is such a cheap shot, the cat deserves respect for his music alone. As for his influence on Prince, P is a grown man and can listen to and embrace whatever religious dogma he pleases...

He's a fucking incredible bassist, and he brought so much to Sly & The Family Stone. The GCS albums are fabulous too. Get a clue man!

If you "hate" him for turning Prince to the JW faith - get real! Prince is no gullable kid. He's a 45 year old man, he can make his own decisions and you should credit him with more intelligence.

In conclusion, quit bashing Larry, He deserves your love and respect!

L G has to know that a majority of the fans donot like him.

and because we arenot JWs Larry will influence Prince that he isnot to have anything to do with us, not to mingle with us, but it is alright to play on stage because this is your job.

Believe me if you are one of the fans that like L G you are in the minority not the majority.

Larry had his issues in the Sly & Family Stone days but I have no stories since his JW conversion to judge him on.

Well just because you haven't heared it doesn't mean it isn't true. I have heard it and so have other members of prince.org . I didn't say it was a fact that Larry was a chump, i'm not sure anyone can be a chump as a matter of fact. But in my opinion he is a chump, obviously some dont' agree. Who is to say who is correct.

Issues? Sly Stone believes that Larry tried to have him killed. Then again Sly doesn't sound like he is the most reliable of witnesses.
