Lots of good points here.

I particularly like the hypothetical about the Internet being around during the time of the Revolution.

Expanding it a little, I wonder if they tend to get a 'pass' about a lot of things because we didn't have such an effective medium for tearing apart, dissecting and overanalysing every little thing they did or said...

(not having a go, of course - we still have the means to appreciate the awesome music, that doesn't change - but it's certainly true that they were not subjected to the same scrutiny as Prince, as well as every band member and associate he's been connected to, has been ever since newsgroups and forums came into being, not to mention now fb, twitter, etc... )

As for Andy, she's not the new 'anyone', she's just the newest member of the NPG and was thrown under the spotlight almost immediately, on national television, playing alongside Prince, amidst obvious technical difficulties, apparently having had no sleep since playing a full gig in Montreal the night before.

I'm surprised she could even stand.

Do we have anyone here who was at the Montreal gigs? How did she fare there?

I agree that a lot of people on here long for prince's glory years. Hell I do! But damn almost every post i have seen of yours slags off anyone who no longer works with him. Wendy does tons of tv and film scoring and i would guess that pays better than being a guitarist in his band. She's probably her own boss too which is important the older you get fo sure. It's not just about what hit #1 though, it's about the quality of the music in general, and for albums like "Parade" and "Dream Factory", W&L are all over those album.... some songs like "Mountains" could not have been created without them.

But i understand what you're saying, some people do give them a little too much credit, but equally others don't give them enough.
