OMG i think i get it now - Prince is playing out his fantasy romance with Michael Jackson! its his way of dealing with the guilt of not wanting to know him while he was alive. eek

1. he plays his songs

2. he does his own little 'billie jean' dance solo in the middle of kiss

3. he hires a female guitarist

4. and she's got a fro!!!

way to go Prince!! ur really working thru your issues now huh?! biggrin

I never thought he could have a band as bad as the 2006-7 era or the rave era but he has managed to top those two. This current band is just hideous. I guess be a jehova is more important to him than having talent. Its tough to even watch this crap nowadays

Actually his current band is tight as hell where it counts, drummer, bassist, keyboards, and him. Liv & Shelby are great backing vox, although I think with Elisa they sound 10x more solid.

I agree with Lezama. The band rocks. They are making music on stage and were outplaying every other band on the North Sea Jazz Festivall with their performance last saturday.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Since the first time I saw footage of Andy Allo on this site, I loved her.

She is amazingly beautiful, she has a smile that lightens up a room, not wait, that lightens up a stadium. The way she sees humor in so many things and laughs about little things ads a positive vibe to her presence in the band.

She has a great voice, good musical instinct and has the aura of a star. She was born cool.

I really love her, and apreciate it that Prince gives her this experience to grow and learn as a performer and musician. Their behaviour together surely gives the impression they are a couple.

If she is his girlfriend; WOW, I'm proud of him, she is a great personality and I hope he cherishes her well and doesn't confine her too much, and let's her be herself. With just a little bit of professional coaching on the side wink

I love me some Andy Allo, she is very enigmatic.

couldn't agree more, i'm gonna put my dortmund 88 dvd on and watch a REAL fucking band!

I am disappointed that Prince seems to go for the look and youth in the band to remain relevant. He was always the stalwart defender od real music by real musicians. I hope heisnt shirking on that by simply getting hottest chicks he can find who know how to hold an instrument. Andy is almost all window dressing - get real. And the white chick on bass is no Rhonda Smith - thats for damn sure. And who hasnt had enough of Shebly yet?

Prince is like a living version of Woody Allen's films. The sad thing though is that even Woody stopped chasing young women in his films.

A "wooden dummy" ? lol

But it does look like father and daughter, -haha--wooden dummy. wink

I've never seen a father and daughter dress alike. cool. cool

Cool Pic though--would've been cooler if both were holding their guitars in

hand facing the opposite direction with Sheila E. in the middle holding

her drumsticks in a X with a serious face too, almost like the Charlie Angels

pose.

nod I like the idea with matching outfits, but hers looks way cooler than his and his glasses are aweful and the whole way he stands there and his face too, he just looks really old.

but therein lies the problem for me, this band is too competent, there's no edge. john blackwell is a chops player and he can't help overplaying in songs that were simple in their original form. people can slate bobby z for being simplistic in his playing but that man was a great pocket player. sheila e for me is hands down the best drummer prince has ever had.

I think John Blackwell is a better drummer than Sheila. I also think most drummers would agree with me on this.

I think Sheila is a better drummer for Prince's material. IMO, she truly shines as a percussionist. As far as pocket players go, I'd have to give that to Michael Bland.

Sheila plays with a lot of flair but I couldn't really hear her doing a Clyde Stubblefield groove justice. Prince doesn't really play grooves like that and when he does, they aren't usually nailing it like JB did. I can agree that Sheila is Prince's best drummer fro Prince's music but I can't slight John out like that. Dude is a great all-around drummer.

i didn't make myself clear. that's what i meant, best drummer for prince. i'm a drummer myself, so i do appreciate that john blackwell is a great drummer, just not right for prince in my opinion. i hate all the rolls he plays during simple songs like raspberry beret. i love sheila's drumming cos as you say she's primarily a percussionist and you can hear that in her playing, especially her hi hat grooves. guess it's just a matter of taste. smile
