This reads like THE NIGERIAN PRINCE scam and the moderators should delete your post. If she were in the hospital without insurance, she could contact the FINANCIAL SERVICES office at the hospital, and once they are able to document that her personal financial situation is as dire as you say they will cover 98% of the bill. Only a total sucker would give money based on this post.

Um.... im confused though, so do peeps think that maybe she flew to the states (A country where people carry guns) without travel insurance?

As most travel insurance covers sudden illness and accidents (well mine does anyway)

I just went and looked again at their FB page. They've updated it with info from the San Jose show they did with Prince and the thing that is posted with the link is still up, so they have not deleted it.

They did post responding and thanking folks.

While I agree that we all ought to help one another...I have reservations about donating to a cause like this. First of all, based on experience with non -US citizens receiving health treatment without insurance...there are programs that they have for people w/o insurance..All you have to do is ask-they often give a reduced price or a negotiated price-WHEN ASKED.

Based on that, if anyone does decide t contribute, they really ought to wait till the end when they actually get the final bills with accounting. For example, they may receive a bill for $10,000 yet when they negotiate it is actually $2000....

I just went on and read their wall...and they were scheduled for a massage. Unless that is included in their pay package with the band..extra luxury necessities are cut out during times of financial stress...

I also thought I saw a post that 'she came here to heal'..

And another poster was correct-travel insurance is really stupid not to buy when travelling to another country....esp since it is so reasonable.

I feel sorry for the mom, the burden it places on the famliy, etc..but I still think it is bit tacky and premature since they have not received their final billing yet. Also, my child has a medical condtion and while I have insurance, I pay a ton out of pocket including her medicines (which are practically non-covered) IT is a huge hit......I am not asking for help publically..of course it would be nice to get donations.

When Corey Haim passed away, his mother had to do the same thing. Terrible situation, and very sad.

HMMMM, this is WEIRD!!! Why are the twinz begging for money? Don't they have jobs? Where is the money they have been making from dancing with Prince and other projects? Why is it that this lady didn't get travel insurance when she was going to another country for an extended period of time? This country can't afford to even treat its own citizens, much less non citizens. Can't the twins request help from their native land?

I love charity work, but this is all too weird for me. I have reservations about helping people without knowing a real need or why they are in the situation they are in. And I've been to other countries for extended periods of time and needed medical attention, I didn't post on a website asking for money from other people...while employed by a BIG time celeb like Prince. Sorry, this reads scam to me! I don't care if it is the Twinz.

Ok, so why should WE help foot the bill for some one eles's medical costs? Not to sound mean, but um, WE have medical bills too................ and our money is very tight. We are struggling big time.. YET.. I still carry health insurance ($750 every 2 months) some months its hard as hell to pay the cost.. but we do it... we do with out ALOT of stuff to pay it............

and when I have certain tests and stuff I still have to fork out 20% of the costs...

but No one is rushing to pay MY bills???????????

I am sorry, but people have to think ahead about stuff and worry about themselves and not want everyone else to bail them out. I am sorry the lady was in the hospital....... but life goes on....

My hubby works in the Finance business.. ALOT of people have serious medical debt... and they either pay it off slowly, or don't pay and it gets put on collecton accounts..........

People make mistakes and people need help sometimes, too. God forbid it happen to any of you. It is easy enough to find it if this is a legitimate cause or not. Has anyone ever given someone money on the street? How do you know that person really needed it? How does anyone know that donating money to Red Cross or United Way that the money will make it to the sources that need it?

I believe the idea is to give if you can. I really don't understand the need to bash something some of you have no interest in.

Why is it strange for people to be curious about that? That's the entire reason people ARE curious about it. Why is a millionaire letting his employees' down like that? If he isn't, why are they asking Prince's fans for money?

It's not about not being charitable. If I had money and you needed money, in theory I would lend you some. If a celebrity asks me to help pay for their hospital bills, I would refrain. I do not possess the ability to make $1.5m a night.

I saw the Twinz on Dr. Funkenberry's site. I still don't know what to say, accept I would think that the girls would have some money to help their mom. Its not like have been dancing for Prince for free. And, I know our handsome, sexy and generous Prince helped them as well.

Sure, but there's about 5 million other right things with open mouthes, too. You'll go broke doing the right thing every time. In this situation, Prince has given them blessing to advertise thru his fanbase their need. If they didn't wanna ask him, his own Do The Right Thing should've kicked in. And that's my point. Not that doing the right thing is bad.
