If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. |

Go ahead..their music is excellent. I urge all Prince fans to get to know their music, they won't be disappointed!
Note that they did the last interview as a web chat rather than an orger actually questionning them on camera so its likely they will do that again.
Write to them via their website I guess.
I think I would be just as keen to meet them IRL as I would Prince! |

The timing might be perfect considering that they are promoting a new album.
Good idea. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/ |

The EP is in manufacture. The booklets, limited canvas prints and hard cover books are up next. We are very excited. It all looks and sounds great...at least we think so! we hope you check it out and spread the word. It's called <drumroll> SNAPSHOTS. Snapshots is an EP of tunes that we've recorded over the last 15 yrs (gulp, 20?!) that have never seen the light of day or in 2 cases saw the day briefly. Snapshots in time and other stuff and things.
As is our favorite modus operandi.... this is a DIY release and exclusive to our website. More info and store web page coming asap.

Yes, looking forward to it....loved White Flags of Winter Chimneys.
They also have an unreleased album called Friendly Fire from aroud 1995 (title not given by them by the bootleggers) which was their work with Trevor Horn. It was never released as they had a difference of opinion with him on the direction it was going. Wendy and Lisa have previously said they don't mind fans seeking it out for download as they don't have the rights to it (the rights are still with ZTT records) [Edited 6/1/11 1:44am] |

I'm doing an interview with them for my blog to promote SNAPSHOTS.
I might try to get this one out on a few different music sites also.
It won't be a Youtube thing tho. |

I truly understand and fully appreciate your support for writers like myself, but hope you don't petition them not to allow it there. I specifically requested the interview and it was granted for my Huffpost blog.
Huffpost might be making $$ hand over fist but it is not robbing anyone of anything. We are all writing for it voluntarily because (at least in my case) it is opening some doors which are leading to other opportunities. [Edited 6/1/11 10:33am] |

Sorry, I don't agree with the whole voluntarily part. There is a legal precedent that what Arrianna has done is illegal. I'll gladly share that information with you offline. Don't want to threadjack this any further. Space for sale... |

I don't wish to further jack this either but want to make it clear, that speaking for myself only I can say that I was invited on board as an arts blogger and that I am there 100% voluntarily. There have been no exclusivity restrictions imposed on my writing by Huffington Post. |

I didn't say I didn't want to go offline.
I didn't even mention Huffpost. I just mentioned I was doing an interview as part of the discussion of the thread. You made a big statement then wanted to take it offline. So I simply wanted to be clear, in response to that statement, as to what my personal experience with Huffpost has been. Since I was invited and have blogged voluntarily without ever being promised or even offered the possibility of anything beyond that, I don't feel like I've been robbed of anything. Would I like a piece of that purchase money, sure, who wouldn't? But since I was never given the impression of anything remotely close to that, I don't feel I can complain.
I will use my blog there to open whatever doors it may for me to get my writing to other venues. I might not have had the access to write a lot of the pieces if I did not blog there. Will that shift and change as I become involved with other sites? I imagine (am hopeful) it will.
I won't be caught on any side of any argument because I am not arguing with anyone about any of this.

No, not just post something on the forum. Send an actual email requesting an interview, stating what it's for, etc. When I request one I send a link with samples of my other ones to give the artist I'm requesting an idea of my style. If it's for Youtube, you might want to include a link to your channel, for example.
That's just how I go about it. |

Yeah, your not arguing but you are contributing to the unfortunate abuse of talent. Wether you admit it or not. And I am not telling you to do anything. I am just trying to appeal to your rational side and join a growing movement who is refusing to give service to a currupt organization. Abuse is abuse yet time and time again people are hesitent to condemn it at the start. One day you and many others will realize your complacency in this fight.
If I can't get you to agree with me--no sweat. Do what you want and I will do what I want. No hurt feelings. Doesn't mean I am not going to continue to urge writers and artist and politicos to boycott the site. Huffington Post is destroying good paying Labor jobs and any and all progressives should and will see that and stop supporting it. Dancing with the devil eventually comes back to bite you.
