Alan Leeds' comment on Prince re Fdeluxe this speaks for itself really.
No hatin' here...just pity. How sad that someone with 21 shows that he can't sell out (guess Cali ain't New York!)....has nothing more important to do than obstruct a bunch of grateful proteges from trading on a history that they deservedly share. It's not cool to judge one's motives, so I'll leave that to him and the Almighty he so avidly claims to let guide him. I didn't know Jehovah was a King. Guess dude needed to choose a Chosen after all. Go figure. Sarcasm aside, he oughta learn to be proud of those who passed thru his camp and learned from him instead of obsess. It's soooo pathetic and beneath his stature.

Sounds like hating from me from the guy who use to book the hotel rooms.

Thank you Alan........and so many protege's feel that way but only Jill and Alan have the nuts to speaak up. A close friend of SUSAN's once told me the reason SUSAN MOONSIE is so mysterious and stay out of the media is because of some gag order he have on her. Scared she will be the one to tell it all.
Dont get me wrong I love Prince's music but one can't deny that something is seriously wrong with dude !

exactly... aren't these rock managers on the same level as used-car salesmen and real estate agents? lol

Prince was a control freak from the very minute he was introduced to the wolrd if not before that. Nobody gave a shit before because everyone around him was soaking up the fame and enjoying the ride. Now that the old ties are broken did anyone really expect him to all of a sudden change his ways? No they didn't. We all bought the music and watched his every move back then and still do to this day. What are people expecting from someone who is doing what they expected him to do. Yeah in a perfect world Prince wouldn't be Prince anymore and it'd be one big everlasting reunion tour. Well guess what it's ain't gonna happen!
Now if everyone would just drop the music and get over the past we could all benefit. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Kudos to Alan!
Prince really should be ashamed of himself. Instead of worrying about Fdeluxe, maybe he should spend some of that energy figuring out how to run a website or get his latest album distributed in the United States.

OUCH!
She has robes and she has monkeys, lazy diamond studded flunkies....

Based on your posts around here, my guess is if Prince slapped you in the face and called you names, you'd come up with some reason to defend him then too.

Are yall sure thats Alan leeds?!!? I've read interviews and other things he's written. This does not sound like Alan. Or maybe he had 1 too many drinks when he wrote this.?...
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Yes its Alan on the Fdeluxe facebook page...

Sounds like hating from a fan who wishes they were the person booking the hotel rooms.

Wow! Alan tells it like it is!!

dont it sound like a jealous bitter man??

couple of things. If Prince owns copyrights and the IP for whatever is at dispute, that is his right to issue a cease and desist order or whatever. Secondly, Alan should focus on D'Angelo and his issues and not Prince's. Lastly, why would Prince bend over backwords for a group who's leader, St Paul, left/quit when the group had a chance to be successful. If I invested millions of dollars or whatever the amount was back in the day and the group broke up before I had the opportunity to recoup any monies, it would be a cold day in hell before I would offer support or anything due to the loss I took earlier.

You are so woefully underinformed as to what a manager does...it is stunning.
| |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
not at al. And Alan has done fine for himself working with other artists. It 's a shame Prince fans are so uneducated about any of these peoples status or experience in the industry. Makes it hard to take your post seriously.

He doesn't OWN ANY bleeding copyright. Period. Again- keep up, or don't bother commenting. WB invested that money. WB did not recoup.

I could be wrong but I think there is just bad blood between them and they just don't like each other and probably what's driving this. Though i'm a little confused because if Prince doesn't own the rights to the Family why change the name of the CD to Gaslight? [Edited 5/21/11 7:27am]

Fair enough. Dont know who you think you are talking to though
| |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
also, if it is WB that has ownership then why is this even an issue? Just asking. The letter would have no teeth or meaning.

This is all getting so nasty. Why don't they all just get together and call a meeting with him or find some way to comunicate with him, to resolve their past issues, instead of posting messages on their FB page, with insults in regards to the person they're trying to get their message across. Nip it in the bud and get it over it. Confront it and end it. It's all beginning to sound like "beef" that goes on between rappers. I'm sure they're all better than that. Just my two cents. Exactly. facebook has become the associated artists ultimate weapon against Prince I'm like will they just shut up and sue him already since he has no claims as people here on the Org says.
I'm sure Prince has his control issues but I also think the relationships are very strained and not on good terms and that's what its about too. [Edited 5/21/11 8:26am]

FaceBook is such an immature way of getting your point across to Prince..But look at the group of the folks that you are dealing with; Manuela, Jill Jones, Fdeluxe, now Alan Leeds.. Grow up and retain an Attorney!

To be honest, isn't it better to find some way, no matter how difficult, to meet up with him and air their issues? Posting it on facebook or any other social network won't do a thing for either of them but make matters worse, and just have fans blowing up the issue more than it is. There's always a guarantee former band associates' fb messages will end up here, that's without a doubt. Now do some of these former band members know it may end up on one of the unofficial fan sites, that they think someone from P's camp may notice and relate what they read back to him?
Sure, that's a possibility, but in the end, what does it solve? Nothing, because the issue between the former band member/associate/ex's, etc., will still be between them and P, no matter the comments from any member of this site. So isn't it better to just confront the issue firsthand, directly, by finding a way to set up some type of meeting with him or representative from his camp to resolve some of their issues? It may be a stretch and take some time, but it doesn't hurt to try, instead of comments on an FB page or other social network that may just make matters worse.

I totally agree. I'm not sure if they have tried that option, none of them has ever mentioned it. The only thing that is mentioned is them receiving a letter but no other details of if they requested permission through the proper channels or if they tried to talk to him. All we get are posts and rants on facebook. I'm saying this has gone on long enough, decades of complaining and playing victim with these associated artists. At some point, I would think they would get together or get some attorney involved to protect whatever rights they have, especially since so many here claim Prince has no rights. You are right, this only matters worse.

Not only, it plays right into the fans' hands in the way of gossip, speculation, suspicions, some fans verbally attacking those associated artists with insults, etc., as well as Prince, based on what's posted from those FB messages, but like I said, at the end of the day, the situation is between those former ex's, bandmates, friends, etc., where their current relationships may not be on an amicable level.
Something they all either have to sort out if what's happening between them and P is affecting their current lifestyle (i.e, their music) or if it's not, then they can make a personal choice to move on to obtain some type of closure. This is no way stating they don't have a right to make comments about him, just saying if whatever the problem is between them, if personal and currently affecting their lives, then maybe they should find some type of way to find closure.
If it is something much more personal, then it is obviously something only P and those individuals can work out.
This is no way stating any of them don't have a right to make comments about him anywhere they choose, because I don't want orger BK jumping over here saying folks over here are all fanbots, and all that other crazy bs he's been spewing and accusing some over here of.. just saying if whatever the problem is between former bandmates/ex's are, especially if it's personal and currently affecting their lives, then maybe they should find some type of way to meet with him or one of his representatives, to settle whatever that problem is or if it is impossible to do so, then just move on.
