Suggestions 4 opening acts

Prince has pulled in some interesting opening acts on this tour. Listening to Cee Lo Green's voice, I was reminded of Terence Trent Darby. What a great blast from the past he would be if he flew in from Europe and put down an opening set. I would say Teena Marie as well if she had not gone to heaven.

He should bring over Samson For President! I'm totally serious! biggrin

Go to www.samsonforpresident.com and listen to the songs "One Last Time" and "Take it in" for example...before you say anything!

How is it not? Every opening act for Prince is associated with him. And the suggestion is free. No matter who you chose.

I dont think anyone would remember THe Family and only a small minority of those who would remember would be that interested. Maybe at a more specialized Prince event that is just for hardcore fans like the Paisley Park celebrations or an afteshow; not general audience arena gigs. Same for Rosie. Hey, I love them both but got to be real.

Lenny might be too large to open for Prince but then he did open for Aerosmith, I think.

Patti LaBelle and Fantasia should be on the same bill - just not with Prince. Shelby J just doesnt count so THe Time is the only viable act on this list in my opinion.

you'd be surprised who remembers Screams of Passion when I mention them. They had pretty wide airplay back in the day- and lots of Video Soul visibility. Plus everyone knows Nothing Compares to you. But he's not going to ask them anyway.

Just cause you aren't interested don't speak for everyone else. You're starting to sound like you ARE Prince. I saw them in LA at the Family Jamm - and they tore it up. I'll see anyone who can put on that kind of show and with that kind of musicianship...even if I don't know the material.

It's not christizm about the list of artists, they're all great, I just feel that many Prince-fans are afraid of anything that is new.

THe last three words of my post are "in my opinion". So asserting that I am speaking for everyone is a lie. I dont know what your problem with me is but it is just that - your problem.

I've actually enjoyed that Prince is letting artists who don't necessarily get airplay in the States to open for him. They all have their followings but he's put them all on the national radar by doing so. It's good to see him promoting talented groups and individuals who probably would never get to play such large venue otherwise.

clapping

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

There's a good chance Janelle Monae may open for him again because she did in NYC. Excellent performance by the way!

She is the cloest thing to a female Prince right now. Prince should have made something as briliant as "Sincerely Jane"

It would need to be someone from his era and someone who has a similar sound as his. None of these dull ass neo stool artists that make nothing but slow music that will put someone to sleep before Prince comes on. Prince is an artist that throws down hard so his opening act should be an act that can throwdown hard. The only two I can think of would be Jody Watley or The SOS Band. Both had Minneapolis connections, Jody had Andre Cymone and The SOS Band had Jam and Lewis.

She was a lame in the 80s and now she is lame AND old. SHe isnt even good enough to be one of Prince's backup singers.
