Unreleased Sheila E. Videos

So around '86 or '87, Sheila did some Japanese commercials. The notable thing about them, though, is that they used videos from "Hold Me" and "Love on a Blue Train" as their backdrop. My big question is: If a video for "Hold Me" existed, why not release it? And the "Love on a Blue Train" one looks pretty good; I'd love to see the full version.

Do either of these (or any other Sheila videos) ever circulate, or are they too lost somewhere in the Paisley Park vault?

For "Love on a Blue Train," you'll have to go to Vimeo, since it can't be embedded here.

And here's "Hold Me":

Yeah,it's strange that the video for "Hold Me" was never released. The song was shaping up to be a huge hit for Sheila.

I wondered the same thing about these when I saw them. Especially since a shot from the Hold Me video is used for the japanese Holly Rock single cover (which Hold/Touch Me is the b-side to) - so it must've been done before the Hold Me single was released elsewhere.

My guess is it was done only for the commercials, or was tied up in legal stuff? Seems odd though I agree.

That's curious to me. Since Holly Rock was released so much earlier than the Sheila E. album, and since the Love on a Blue Train video has the Romance 1600 hair and outfits, it wouldn't seem the Hold Me video would have been shot early enough to be on the cover. I guess the Sheila E. album was finished and waiting to be released for a while.

I agree, that was that period where the output out of Paisley Park was just explosive

You could see the change during the Parade era, the 1st half Sheila had the Romance 1600 look, the 2nd half she had the Sheila E. look.

I wonder if she performed any of the new songs during that time.

The look Sheila E had was a pre taste to what they wore during the SOTT era

I bet Sheila was happy she got to change her look. Prince only let her wear that one outfit during the Romance 1600 days. biggrin

Was the Koo Koo video shot during or prior to the SOTT era release?

Cat wasn't known yet when this video hit

LOL she did wear that suite alot

But I think that was just her signature look, Wendy wore that paisley silver piece ALOT and Prince wore that black half suite ALOT

1/2 Half Sheila E(album) look

the Sheila E album is bittersweet because even though I enjoyed seeing her play drums during SOTT

we missed out on frontman Sheila E. and videos and performaces, I bet we would have seen more Jill Jones + Prince interactions too if there was no Revolution breakup.

I really thought Sheila E the album would have took her Prince & Paisley Park to another level of visibility
