it's strange it says cdr as it was officially released on normal silver pressed cd. i wasn't keen on morrises solo work, but fishnets was okay

Why CD-R, this album was officially released on CD, I have it from an amazon seller (uk though).
The seller says it's factory sealed and amazon are selling it themselves too - so it may just be a mistake or a legacy listing from a previous seller. I'd take a chance, I doubt it would be a CD-R (especially if you buy it from Amazon themselves and not the seller!)
There is another listing that is listed as the official WB CD if you're unsure: http://www.amazon.com/Day...000008EVW/

Label is "Tartare" and year of release is 2010.... This could be a pressed-on-demand cd-r.
I would go for the WB official cd release. Should be available for a reasonable price second hand, on amazon as well...

I have the official release and was just listening to it the other day. Is there a difference between this and the old CD release? The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. Maybe it is out of print and they have some clearance to produce CDR copies and sell them. I have two copies of this album on original CD - one of which I got Morris to autograph.

Isn't a CDR just a recordable CD? Space for sale...

^ Yeah it is ^
I'm indeed surprised that companies use these for official releases, while imo they really could distribute some popular titles on quality-discs.
There are great formats such as DVD-Audio or Super Audio CD. Hybrid-pressings, usable on both regular players and Super Audio CD-players can also be fabricated, and that sound-difference might make it interesting for specific groups of buyers.
I guess the download-market has changed a lot, even though quality formats are available in that area as well ( FLAC, WAV, etc...)
