Purplenuts that is a good question. Wouldn't it be great if Wendy & Lisa wrote a book about their career and time spent with Prince. They could give their thoughts on the other people Prince worked with as well as themselves. An interesting read 4 sure.

Wendy and Lisa have run their mouths about Prince for so long that there wouldnt be anything interesting in the book. It would also add publicity to their already overstated relevance in Prince history. Memoirs of Vanity, Andre Cymone, Morris Day, or even Mayte would be much more interesting to me, personally.

I can understand the desire to safeguard one's privacy, even, or especially, if one is a public figure of some sort (Prince, Princess Diana, Princess of Monaco, or whoever). But I think that it's not very reflective to say that "Wendy and Lisa have run their mouths about Prince". The situation raises questions about how far the reach of "an employer's" control (of any sort) over "an employee" should extend. As Wendy (correctly, in my view) says in the press conference: "It's our history too."

Vanity has one - ain't all that interesting. Morris Day? Maybe. But we kinda know that story already. Mayte? I like Mayte fine, but her insight would be just personal- not ,much about the music I am afraid.

Wendy and Lisa's would be the best because they WORKED WITH and INFLUENCED Prince AND have a great relevant career still. They brought skills and sounds to the table. Andre would b most likely to fit that - and he might make a good book too. But no one else had the time frame with Prince that they encompassed- during his most well know - and imo prolific and groundbreaking period in his career. Just because you seem to have have a personal problem with Wendy and Lisa doesn't make it not the subject of a great book.

Of course they probably don't have time what with having a lot of work and all. lol

Dr. Fink was with Prince longer than Andre, Wendy, or Lisa.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Before Wendy and LIsa, Dez influenced and worked with Prince as well - though he never gets credit for it the way that Wendy and Lisa do.

All of his early band members had their "influence: imo. Especailly Andre.

But lets look at the dates each artist mentioned was with Prince.

Dez 1979 to 1983
Lisa 1980 to 1986

Wendy 1983 to 1986

Which time period did Prince do the most genre jumping and musical growth? Your answer will let you know who you think had a bigger influence, plain and simple.

Beyond perception is the reality that Prince handed control of finishing songs to W&L, which was unusual until Diamonds and Pearls when Levi Seacer Jr. seemed to be all over the finished sound.

The book isn't that hard to get. He sells them autographed on his website if I'm not mistaken. I'm not sure how long it takes to GET the book, but I'm pretty sure he's not getting bombarded with millions of orders every day. cool This ain't amazon.com.

It takes a long time to get the book. I ordered it five weeks ago and I'm still waiting.

Dr. Fink was with Prince longer than Andre, Wendy, or Lisa.

Dr. Fink formed a friendship with Ernest Sewell some years ago. I was jealous as a motherfucker, but he was doing his radio show or whatever... I don't even know if it was off the ground at that point, but it was way less formal than the one he does now (I think?). Anyway, Fink and he talked quite a bit over what I remember to be several months. It felt like a really long time, lol.

Of course, Ernest would then tell me all about the stories Fink would tell him. He also recorded all of the conversations with Fink. (I do not know if Fink was aware he was being recorded, sooooo...) I heard some of the interview recordings and Fink has sooooo many good stories. Sooooo sooooo many. I wish Ernest would put those recordings back up but Fink got REAL fucking mad at Ernest because he posted some of the stuff Fink said. Fink was LIVID! He said shit like how dare you publicize what I told you, etc etc.

From what I remember of the situation, the interviews were for Fink's album he put out several years ago and after the official interview aspect of it, they talked on what Fink thought was off the record terms about his entire tenure with Prince. Of course, Ernest considered this all to be fodder for his show and he got quite a bit of info about stuff during their friendship. My favorite story was about the LoveSexy tour and how Prince was quite snippy with the band in general which often would lead Boni (who was very outspoken) to get into verbal fights with Prince. During the intro or whatever where the band would be walking to the stage, Prince and Boni would be yelling back and forth at each other, "Motherfucker, fuck you!" and "Fuck you, asshole!" they were so mad. This reaffirms the general consensus that when Sheila and Boni left the band, it was acrimonious.

Anyway yeah, I would love for Fink to write a book. The stories are priceless. I also wish Hucky would write a book.

If that's all true, I don't blame Dr. Fink for being pissed. That was a really shitty thing for Ernest to do. Several really shitty things, actually.

It figures that Ernest would blab things he'd been told in confidence since he's such an attention whore. He shouldn't have even told those things to one other person, let alone broadcast them on his stupid 'show'. If the story Spinlight just told was one of those stories, then he's just as bad as Ernest.

Wow! It's funny why each artist has their "fan" who abuses the artist trust and ruins it for the rest of the fans. The stories I could tell about a certain W&L fan who f*cked over (not the artist but) other fans. confused

LOL. I was never under any terms for secrecy about anything I heard. Someone just told me the stuff while it was happening. And to date, I haven't even mentioned it purely because it's not something I would do were I in Ernest's place. However, I do bring it up now because of the topic at hand.

The story I told is as true as I could ever know it to be - it was told to me by someone whom was told by Fink. Fink could've been misremembering things and Ernest could've embellished the story. I'm just sharing what he told me about that specific incident because Ernest has briefly mentioned it before on AMP and the Org. *shrug*

When she said "it's our history too," she was obviously referring to the time they spent working with him. She was not suggesting anything about the entire span of his career to date.

Why write a Book about their time with Prince? Why not just stick to the music. After all they are musicians, Right?!?

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Vanity- The book she had published was shitty, but it was not the original copy in which she aired every ones laundry. I would like to get my hands on that copy, because she supposedly had quite a bit to say about Prince.

Wendy and Lisa- If they are under a contract it should expire (depending on where it was brought up) after Prince goes to meet the music.

I just hope enough of these old school cats outlive Prince. Once he dies...the shit is gonna hit the fan.

Dez book was very honest he really had no reason 2 lie. The person that could write a book is Sheila E. But she will never do that, because she still works 4 him sometimes & is the only one that is invited back in the band whenever she chooses. Just wonder what happen with them a few months ago when Prince sent her home & she made an announcement that she no longer in his 20TEN band, only 2 b invited back a few weeks later....Hmmm

I pay good money to hear/read what Sheila wuld have to say about her time with Prince. Most would want some disclosure on the legend of their romantic/sexual relationship. The only Prince book ive read threw and threw is Prince: Life and Times, and addmittingly i enjoy the pictures and the timeline more than anything. Prince books all state similiar info, and qoute the same people, except for the ones(books, author, people) that try and defile his character.

I never read Dez's book, if its more about Dez than maybe its worth reading. But if its jus another account about P mine aswell pass, P is very secretive it seems, and inless he one day tells his part of well his story LOL (which i doubt) then all will ever have, is half accounts and half truths, which means half a story

Just my opinion, good question though

I would rather read a book about Prince written by Andre back when he first left the group. When an ex bandmember is pissed, that's when you get the real good dirt that the others would be afraid to tell.

That's also when you get a lot of lies from a pissed off person trying to make their target look even worse than they may have really been.
