Let me be more specific. Universal tried 2 gangster Prince by telling him that they would NOT support a tour but they would support him performing in Vegas at their hotel. Prince was pissed and told Unversal 2 kiss his ***. Univeral in turn told Prince that they would not be supporting the Tamar project.
Prince then struck his own deal in Vegas and that is how u got the Rio stint in Vegas.
What a b*tch!! LOL In the end, Tamar got screwed.
She got screwed and had no power or say so in the matter.
I hope that she learned something along the way. |

I have to wave the "wait a minute" flag again here. People, the music business is not a tit-for-tat playground where deals are made up on the fly as you go along. Every single project has a level of obligation of support and work by both parties involved. Not a "he did, then she did" game. This is a serious bidness with rules, laws, oversite, unions, and everything. Don't let the movies fool you. |

I think it's pretty clear from watching Prince's career for the last 20 years that that is EXACTLY how the music business works. For Prince. Where you been? "does my cock look fat in these jeans?" |

I keep forgetting who we are ultimately dealing with...Forget all of my previous coments. And to answer your question...I have been in China for the last 10 years, and Missouri 2 years prior to that...so I know you can find some love in your heart. |

The Milk and Honey Cd is actually good and P did a good job with it.
Well, I wouldn't know.... SINCE HE NEVER RELEASED! I guess he didn't want to ruin his ruinous track record with protogees.
First of all P was not responsible for releashing the CD. This would have been the job of the record company. The cd is out on the bootleg market and pretty easy to find on the internet. P is actually a pretty good RnB producer and the ups and downs of the music industry are never going to change that. |

I was only hearing that sweet sound til you said this. Some peeps just need a little help with what to wear
Thats for damn sure - She was a hot sweaty mess. I cant believe Prince let her take the stage like that. Remember that big blue garbage bag she had on during the Good Morning America performance when Prince wore that cool pink suit? Someone find a pic of that monstrosity. |

So if he was confident in the project he could have put in out on NPG Records. He DOES have a label after all...even straight dropped it on iTunes. Could have sold a TON of cds at the shows with her playing with him. So many options if he really felt good about the project. |

I really wish Tamar all the best. She seems like such a nice person. I've been rooting for her from mi nute one! I never understood why everyone was so hard on her. I usually lurk when it comes to this site, but I just wanted to "pop in" and send her some positive vibes. |

I've got it - picked up a couple copies last night at the private release party. I'll post a review tomorrow (pretty sick tonight, bummer).
Tamar did "Heartbeat" and "I can Do Bad All By Myself" last night with her songwriting partner on guitar. They were BANGING. She and her producer were going to do another song later, but I just felt too bad to stay.
Official release date is March 24th, and it should be available in multiple outlets. |

I was gonna ask that...
but, when that Tamar deal fell apart and, I guess, he could have gone that route-- wasn't that around the time Mani filed for divorce?
Which was that Memorial Day weekend in 2006 when he did the first 3121 @ Empire Ballroom (before the Rio residency). I believe he did Don't Play Me Hag. Muse. Web Goddess. Taurean. Tree Hugger. Poet. Professional Nerd. Geek.

Man, it's been a long time coming, but Tamar's album drops all over the place March 24th. I've heard it and like it a LOT.
Tamar also is performing this Saturday night in Houston at The Blue Door Lounge.
She's also going to be on "Great Day Houston" Thursday morning.

She got time off from Winn-Dixie to do all that? Wow. |

meh, listened to all the clips, passable voice. nothing interesting in terms of music, personality or anything really.
i think a solo artist has got to have something to say, that they burst forward in a different way that makes you listen.
this is zzzzz. kinda pedestrian.
