his role in the time was a valet and comedic foi and it was somewhat the same in the revolution, i think he is important 2 all the projects he has been involved with.

Hidden talent? What's hidden about it, he's fantastic! He's adorable in the Time, a great comedic actor and definately pulls his own weight in whatever he's in! I love Jerome, he's definately not mooching!

Jerome's one of my favorite people in the world. Not only is he a great hype man, but he's also one of the nicest guys you ever wanna meet. The interplay between him and Morris is classic

Jerome has the best lines in Purple Rain and Under The Cherry Moon and through his humor pretty much dominated The Morris Day And The Time shows I saw in the late 90's/ early 2000's.

Was Jerome on the first album cover and during early performances?

He's a wingman, a sidekick, comedic relief, the cool older brother, a yes man, a bodyguard, a publicist, he's everything you need him to be when you need him to be it.

I thought he was a promoter in his right before the Whole Purple Invasion thing?

He's also Terry Lewis' half brother, which is probably why he was onstage during Janet's 1987 Grammy performance, and in the Control video.

He wasnt on either of the first two album covers, but he was there from the start.

The video for "Cool" was the first time I saw the Time and Jerome was in that.

Oh...and like Reggie Jackson, Jerome is the straw that stirs the drink.

The Time have so many weapons it's just ridiculous. Jerome doesn't sing or play instruments, but carries the live show to the next level. Morris Day lead vocals, humor, cool. Jesse writes hits, channels Jimi Hendrix. JAM AND LEWIS- imagine having these two guys is your band. Jellybean - holds down the drums like nobody else could but can kick your azz on lead guitar. Monte Moir - writes hits, accounting (lol!). And Prince is your sometimes gohst writer/producer studio musician. C'mon! They are like The Avengers/ X-men of funk music.

Yep, he's the icing on the cake.

I'd say definitely not a freeloader. Freeloaders add nothing to what they are involved in and Jerome adds energy, humor and style.

Was he in the right place at the right time with the right stuff (whatever that may be)? Maybe, but there's nothing wrong with that.

He was lucky, that's what he was.

He wasn't in the Sign O' The Times movie.

When you put an album by The Time in your iPod or discplayer do you hear Jerome's contributions? Um, no. He's invisible when it comes to the music and the music is what's most important.

I won't go so far as to say he's been a "freeloader" but let's face it, there's no musical talent there. His contributions are only to the live show - and specifically playing off of Morris Day. (His contribs didn't play out nearly as well with Prince or The Family.) Bottom line, he's fortunate to have had a job with The Time, Prince, The Family, etc. Great gig if you can get it I guess. I certainly don't blame him.

I still remember Donnie Simpson (of BET) interviewing Jerome circa-PARADE. Donnie asked him (rather sheepishly) "Um, do you play any instruments?" Jerome answered "Well, I play at 'em." He seemed a little uncomfortable with the question. He probably got a lot of that.

I've always wondered if he's ever held a "regular job" - i.e. an office job or something along those lines. If he's never had to do that then he's probably the most emotionally healthy person in the world.

Technically he is featured on the Pandemonium album with background vocals. Not much but he is still there. Also if you've ever seen The Time live you would totally know he brings something. What most people who have seen them live will tell you is that they are a better live band than on the albums and I have seen them live and that is true. Even if he doesn't contribute greatly to the music, he contributes immensely to the live show which improves the appeal of the music.

Also if you've ever seen Morris Day and The Time perform without Jerome, it's just not the same. Jerome ain't a freeloader but he is certainly lucky to have had the opportunities he has.

Watch The Time's performance of "Chocolate" on SNL from 1990 and you'll see Jerome at his finest. Big ups JB.

Purple Rain- The best part is Prince's live music and the interplay between Morris and Jerome(the password, etc)

The Family- Jerome live on stage

Under the Cherry moon- Prince and Jerome's interplay

Grafiitti Bridge- Morris and Jerome, Prince can't act and the Music is not as good as Purple Rain

Morris Day and the Time- Live on stage 1995-2006 - Jerome takes more or a role as hype man and background singer, dancer and percussion, shows with the original line up 2008-2010

Oh and I did I mention him as a dancer and in videos for Janet Jackson, Herb Albert, The Isley Brothers, etc

O please. Jerome is wonderful/comedic gold on stage, The Time just isn't the same without him, never will be. Prince saw his greatness and advantages and had him along because he had something. JEROME BENTON for PRESIDENT!
