I've ordered it!
$25 is a little pricey for one CD, though. And I've gotta wait for it to be delivered? What year is this?
Oh, well. I'll be anxious for it to arrive. What I've heard I definitely like.

i saw it asked elsewhere if cd or downloads were preferred... and the fans voted for cd. perhaps both options will be avail in the near future.

well- it IS a direct to artist purchase..and that means they fronted all the money to make it. Considering how many bad albums I plunked $10 for in my lifetime, $25 for something I'm sure I will like does not seem so bad~!

Just bought tickets to Pete & Sheila's concert for Monday! I would've gotten tickets for the weekend but they were sold out so an extra show was added. Really looking forward to this. I saw Sheila last year and it was a great show! They should have the LP for sale there. Then why bother even posting? Frankly I'd rather hear something without him at this point. He's not exactly rolling out anything interesting. So far what I've heard is better than what he has been doing.

A fond thank you to Prince from Sheila E in the booklet with the E-Family CD:
"Prince, you're my musical soulmate, I love u!" So hoping she'll be at the W2A concerts next week! "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Sweet Jebus, can someone please help this woman run her business?
http://twitter.com/#!/She...2643106816
Considering that pressing CDs costs next to nothing, why the frak did she only make a couple of dozen? I'm assuming she only made so few, because she does ONE concert and the damn things are sold out?
I seriously don't get it. WTF is it with these people? Last year she had that mini-album/EP/CD-maxi with the one Prince song on it, and she completely fucked up that thing too -- brilliant: sell it at a gig, set up the website at Bandcamp or whatever and then fail at activating it, so people end up uploading it all over the web and she doesn't get a dime.
She has been pimping this thing for WEEKS, and then when it comes down to actually selling it, they run out ON THE FIRST DATE?

Why ask? Seriously, WHY BOTHER AZSKING? Just offer both. Offer downloads at all kinds of places, sell it via iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp, Topspin,... And sell CDs for those who like CDs. Sell special packages at higher prices for those who like something exclusive.

that's right Bart. If you're gonna get all enraged then get your facts right. Plus why does it matter to you? Didn't get your copy yet?

Indeed, it wasn't the first of this series of dates, but the second.
So she's doing several dates in a row, and she runs out of records on the second. Judging from the website this club seats a couple of hundred people, and I doubt a large number of them will buy the CD.
So 4 days, 2 shows per night, and let's assume 200 CDs per show = 1,600 CDs.
CDs cost approx. $1/copy to be pressed (all in -- it's probably less, actually), and I think she sells them for $20 at the gigs. Pressing 2,000 CDs costs $2,000 (which should be pocket change for someone like her), and she'll get that back if she sells a mere 100 copies.
Let's say my original estimate of 1600 copies is correct. Considering she ran out of copies during the second night, this means she sold only 800 CDs instead of 1,600. So she lost the earnings of 800 CDs, i.e. $16,000 .
Now, call me crazy but NOT spending $1000 has cost her $16,000 -- in my book, that's idiotic.
(In reality however, the numbers will be far lower, which makes this even crazier.)
This is along the idiocy of Prince not pressing enough tour books so everyone interested can buy one at a Welcome 2 America gig: he did how many of them, and when did they ran out? Sheesh, I bet any leftovers could have been sold online easily -- in fact, I bet plenty of entrepeneuring fans did sell those online.
If you're a musician and fail to see opportunities to earn money: LET OTHERS HANDLE YOUR BUSINESS. It's 2011 and artists like Prince and Sheila E are "surpised" by sales numbers? Sheesh, by now they should be able to PREDICT their sales. © Bart Van Hemelen

you're making a ton of ASSumptions there from manufacturing numbers to sales numbers. You may be right, but you may be dead wrong too. I'm jut curious why you are so concerned one way or the other. Do you have a personal stake in their business? Are you a frustrated merch manager? I saw the video of them opening their cds. If you did 1000 or so in a digi pack with the interior art etc they are closer to $2 each. Plus cost of design, photography, recording, mastering, etc...it's not as cheap as you assume per cd.

Well, on first listen to the CD: It's kind of boring. I was hoping for a little more...oomph.
