Sister Fate Extended Version

Has this ever made it onto any 12-inch archive? I know it hasn't been officially released on anything since the original vinyl days, but I'm wondering if it ever made it onto any other non-official releases. Thanks.

It's on the SHEILA E. "The Glamorous Club/Dance EP" CD - 1986; Track Three.

I have all these 12" it would be nice to have a set like this officialy released. would save a lot of time and the sound quality is not there even with a good turntable this would be very time consuming. interesting none the less. I would love to have these all on cd. mabey one day.

What a cool disc! Although, I am a bit puzzled by the Aretha and Madonna tracks. Prince didn't have anything to do with those. shrug

Prince remixed the Aretha/James Brown track and played guitar and contributed vocals to Madonna's Dub Beats.

The REAL treasure on this release is the B-side "Save The People", one of Sheila's best tracks IMO. Now That one should be on cd! Oh well, maybe in 2015...

"Save the People" is phenomenal. I love the percussion work on it. It's one of my favorite songs ever of hers.

Prince contributed vocals to Madonna's Dub Beats.

Wrong ... the Dub Beats Like A Prayer version samples Bob George, which by that time still was an unreleased song !! And since we all know Prince gave Madonna a 1987 Black Album, she must have liked that song, and had it remixed into Like A Prayer !!

Tell me how I'm wrong. Prince sang "Skinny motherfucker with the high voice". The sample shows up in Dub Beats along with Prince's guitar playing. He contributed vocals no matter how you cut it.

There is a BIG difference between contributing to a song vocally, or a sample being used .... I know it's difficult to admit you are wrong, buy hey, you should give it a try !

Try google, that will tell you the difference !

Or, do you also believe James Brown and George Clinton really contributed vocally to all these songs those rappers sampled ???

Wow. Multiple exclamation points and question marks.

Anyone who's heard Dub Beats and has even an ounce if information on the song's backstory knew exactly what was meant by my reference to "contributing". Prince's proprietary guitar work didn't just show up in this Madonna song out of nowhere. It was done specifically for the original song, but was only used in certain remixes. It's fairly safe to say that Prince absolutely gave his blessing to have the Bob George sample included since he was closely tied with this project.

Your comparison to Clinton/Brown uncleared samples and this particular instance really takes away from the respect I used to have about your knowledge of Prince-related topics.

Or maybe ego is clouding your judgement.

I love the Dub Beats mix, it sounds like an extended portion of a track from Lovesexy or something, like the extended part of a 12" remix.

It's semantics. Technically, Prince didn't contribute vocals to the song. He was sampled and his efforts are present, but to say "Prince contributed vocals" insinuates he sang new vocals on the track - which isn't true. I think he's just nitpicking you cuz everyone who has heard the song will know exactly what you mean.
