The Time on the Purple Rain Tour ? Everybody knows that when purple rain came out, not only did it blow Prince up, but it did the same for The Time. When The Time performed "The Bird" in purple rain it was a sight to see! How could you not dance to that song, it's blasphemous if you don't LOL! and jungle love was funky buy itself. Plus, The Time had other amazing songs on "Ice Cream Castle" and previous albums. But what I don't get is that Prince chose Sheila E. (which isn't bad) to be on the roster instead. I mean, i know the reason why he didn't choose The Time (fear of being shown up), but still. What Do You Think.
Would it have made the tour better? would it have added more flare to the show?
let me know your thoughts. I'm sick and tired of making plans without making up my mind, teacher teacher can't u see I just need a little time.

Maybe, possibly, i'm glad he took Sheila on tour with him.
My interest in The Time begins and ends with Prince's involvement.

Maybe its because by the time the movie came out, The Time was defunct.

Morris was like :After this movie, I'm outta' here."
It would've been sweet though Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

If you watch the Purple Rain premiere party, Mark Goodman interviews Morris. Morris seems uninterested for most of the interview, doing his cool schtick, and when Goodman asks "What's next for the Time?" Morris cut him quick...
"We're not gonna talk about that now..."

Exactly. It had nothing to do with a "fear of being shown up." We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

As good as a job that Morris did in the movie I don't know if he would have made it thru the tour. They say he was hi most of the time on the filming of the movie and they had a hard time dealing with him

Earlier in '84,there were rumors that The Time were gonna do their own tour in the fall/winter of '84,with Apollonia 6 as their opening act.Does anyone remember hearing that? If they hadn't broken up,I'm sure that this would have happened.

don't know, I don't think Apollonia had the front man presence to carry it, Brenda might have been better.
I guess he was going to do similar during the Parade era with Sheila E the Family Mazarati

I never thought about that, but yeah The Purple Rain Tour would have been even better with The Time.

The Time would have been huge if they stayed together. But destiny had other plans. I don't think Prince would have included them on The Purple Rain tour either way. My opinion of course... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.
