I think more than timing, which I agree was an issue - Jill's biggest problem was being on Paisley Park Records.
That label blocked the ability for most of it's acts to reach a wider audience because it was just a big fucking joke basically.
So true Paisley Park Records was never a "real" label,it was a vanity label that Warners gave to Prince to keep him happy. It was his personal playground.I wonder how Jill's career might have turned out if she had went to Motown instead, working with folks like Rick James and Teena Marie. |

With Baby Cries in place of With You, I reckon it'd stand as one of the best albums of the '80s, it's the best of the protégé work by far I think. Maybe Mazarati runs it close. |

I have to agree with you. Jill Jones CD was one of the tightest from Paisley Park for me. Also her b-sides were top notch! Baby Cries and 77 Bleeker St. were perfection. Only Sheila E.'s CD's had better material. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming! |

She definitely has a better voice than most of his female proteges. |
