Since Prince actually wrote those lyrics, maybe he knew something that we didn't?
The lyric is probably about the real truth about himself. Andy is a four letter word. |

I think it's because some gay people probably relate to her (and others) because they see similarities in mannerisms or what not and it makes them comfortable with their own sexuality struggles.
I think, in today's day and age, people seriously need to get over the fear of being called gay (whether they are or are not). Nobody trips when people think someone isn't a natural blond. Nobody trips when people think someone is a native Californian. Nobody trips when they think Sheila is puertorican but think someone is gay (even if they say they are straight---uhh, hello there Ricky Martin) and all of a sudden it's you've crossed the line.
What crosses the line is when people try to say opposite of what the person has said and call it fact. So to say "I know for a fact Sheila is gay" is what crosses the line. She hasn't come out, so whoever this person is doesn't know that for a fact, unless they are Sheila's lover themself and can produce some kind of evidence. We can have our speculations, but its when people try to act like they "know" is when its wrong. Or to use "stereotypes" to come up with this conclusion. And just because some celeb has gay tendencies or some gay person thinks this celeb is "like them" doesn't make that celeb gay. And being called gay when you aren't is still not cool. It can ruin reputations and really hurt someone. And it ain't right..
The same thing could also be said about those that claim to "know for a fact" that someone is straight. Why is it such an insult and hurting thing when someone is accused of being gay but not when someone is accused of being straight? Andy is a four letter word. |

It can ruin reputations because of people like you. Bigoted people with Christian dogma seared into their brain like a lobotomy. If she is gay, it wouldn't ruin her reputation. She is a rock star. She chooses to say whatever she says and it doesn't make a bit of difference cuz no one's curiosity or claims here on this website stands as proof.
Furthermore, celebrities and other public figures lie about their sexuality all the time and then are found out to be gay. Sheila E is not beyond that.
Christian people are NOT the only ones that have a problem with homosexuality. So stop trying to rag on Christians, you need to drop your hangups! That isn't the point anyway. There are alot of things in this world that isn't "acceptable" to someone. So it CAN ruin a reputation. Spreading a rumor about someone that isn't true is WRONG. I don't give a fuck if celebs lie about their sexuality. Until they are out, its all just a rumor. And unless they come out and says it themselves, its not someone else's place. |

that's true- plenty of hardcore intolerant religious zealots have a problem with homosexuals. That doesn't make the Christians who hate (especially if they actually follow Christ's teachings rather than the Old Testament and one reference from Paul which adds shellfish and disrespecting your parents as just as bad - and he never mentions women lying with women...I'm just sayin'...) somehow better or above pointing out their hypocrisy. |

I was paraphrasing, not caring at all what the exact quote was, because the jist of it was a guy, questioning his own sexuality. Publicly. Those words, those thoughts even would not have come from a heterosexual man.
Once again, that's the angle that U got from his words, but it doesn't make it a fact. 10 people can get 10 different interpretations from that statement and one wouldn't be any more correct than the other. I didn't see him questioning his sexuality. I saw it as another publicity stunt 2 get the gossipers talking. Besides, what's the standard on what a heterosexual man will or will not say? And just because he violated your standard on being a straight man, does that in fact make him gay or questionable, or isn't that merely just your opinion? An opinion, no matter how strongly U or I may believe in it is still just an opinion at the end of the day...Have U ever noticed that it's easier 4 Prince 2 answer questions with foolish answers that probably aren't true, more than likely 2 enhance that whole "mysterious", even "weird" perception of him than it is 4 him 2 answer a question that will make him appear more human or vulnerable? He'll say things like "I found that there's another person living inside of me and we haven't determined what sex it is..." no matter how it makes him look, but when asked anything about his private life he'll either side-step the question or won't answer at all. He knows what he's doing when he says what he says and I'm sure he didn't believe that any more than he and Mayte saying they believe they were "sisters or the same person in another lifetime". It is very clear this rumor is hearsay and not actual fact. But even if she was it wouldn't make me love her any less and I'm sure many people will still love her regardless because for those who love her, we love her because of her talent, charisma and beauty and I believe she is a sweetheart in person as well because I've heard many nice things about her from those who have had the pleasure of meeting her.
So if she was gay it doesn't automatically erase those things does it?
But folks should be clear in stating what they "think/assume" about something versus what is stone cold fact. Like if she gave a press conference, did a magazine article or sit down interview..That would be fact. If this is true she should be allowed to come out on her own terms if she wants to do so at all because who she takes to bed is no one's concern even if some feel like it is. |

Sexuality is not something a heterosexual male gives ambiguous answers to. And really if you look at the big picture of Prince's relationships with girls... the whole thing sounds like down-low gay man behaviors more than they sound like straight man behaviors. The information that has come out publicly doesn't really sound like how heterosexual guys roll. You don't see the line of baby mommas like Little Wayne or Bobby Brown. I don't see any reason at all to believe the guy is not gay. So if he's Sheila's man, well... |

I'm not claiming to know the fact, I like to go by what the artist says. But just think about it like this, if someone were an openly gay person and had a huge following, did gay ads, etc. And if someone started making up stories about them really being straight and lying to people just for fame or whatever, that could ruin that person's rep and could cause them to lose their gay following. People would feel decieved (which would be uncalled for since this person really were gay). The only point I'm making is that rumors about people, especially something as sensitive as their sexuality, can hurt people's feelings. Sheila could read this entire topic and be really hurt by it if she really were straight, just as much as if she were gay and people were speaking of it negatively, or saying she was straight cause "they knew for a fact" she was sleeping with 10 guys or something. Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol |

Actually, it's completely understandable that bigoted, fundamentalist "Christians" would get most of the attention - there are so many of them, and they use safety in numbers, to force their hatred down the throats of everyone else.
Furthermore, I don't think most GLBT are worried about "acceptance" because the opinion itself, of these haters, is irrelevant. It's those trying to inject their hatred into secular society and laws that are causing the trouble. |

Co-sign that! I honestly never even think about folks sexuality when I think about their music. I screamed when Sheila came out at 3 concerts last year, I don't care what's going on in her personal life. If people love your music, they will look over certain things. Growing up with 4 older sisters, I heard alot of George Michael love! Sure they were disappointed and lost a little love for him when he came out, but at the end of the day we still rock his cd cause his music is good! Uhhh.. in a word...yes.
In the thread "Is Prince A Member Of The Illuminati?" http://prince.org/msg/7/348053
Chiquetet asked you:
So, what you're saying is that perhaps he did, at one point, join an organisation that required him to sell his soul and sacrifice a loved one, whilst knowing ahead of time about 9/11...but then he realised what they were all about and left them
You replied:
Do you realize that Prince was no more than probably 17-18 when he got involved with the Illuminati, like many other youngs stars. The illuminati can mask their intentions very well....they didn't start out as a negative entity. Prince was a young man hungry for success...you bet he'd do anything to get to the top!
But when he realized what it was all about...he did what he had to do to get out of it. Ever wonder why Prince does things that seem to sabotage himself? Why? To devalue himself and make the illuminati not have interest in him anymore. Prince don't talk in code for nothing. He KNOWS something...just like he said all those years ago about MJ "leave that brother alone, he knows something all of us don't." Prince got out, he was one of the lucky ones he was able to get out, but as one can see, he isn't as "free" as he'd like you be. But he ruined his own career to lose importance to the Illuminati, so they let him go. But once you're in....a part of you will always play by their rules!
Don't be fooled folks, the illuminati is very alive and very real. And has control over many, many artists in the business.
So not only did you answer him in the affirmative but you're gossiping about him being a member to begin with...

The quesiton was asked if I thought he'd join an organitazation that required him to kill someone/sacrifice/whatever, I said I thought he joined the organization. I NEVER stated that this requirement was actually an requirement or that I believe Prince had indeed killed anyone, etc. I said that I believed he'd join an organization like that to jump start his career because I felt the organization had not been open with him, I believed they masked their real intentions and when he found out, he got out. You can keep beating that dead horse all you want, you can't show me anywhere I stated that Prince had killed/sacrificed anyone or that this was a requirement for joining. I also stated that I thought Mj and Beyonce were members due to all the "signs." I didn't start the topic so I am not spreading the rumor, the question was asked, I answered originally "Who knows, maybe at some point, but not now." That is an opinion, no facts implemented. If a person wears a shirt/ring/etc with an illuminati member symbol, then stating "this person may be a member" is just stating a fact since its common knowledge that members usually wear the symbols of their clubs, etc. Prince is GORGEOUS. You spin harder than my dryer!
When talking personally about someone and suggesting events and behaviors without having "facts" or even evidence to back it up - Guess what? it's called a rumor.
People asked you to clarify in that original thread, you came back several times and never ONCE countered your seemingly affirmative response to Chiquetet. In fact, you went out of your way to invent scenarios and write 'fanfic' about why Prince behaved in certain ways to make him less valuable - you stated "he ruined his own career to lose importance to the Illuminati, so they let him go"... complete fantasyland with no basis in reality there.
If you take part in a conversation revolving around rumors and gossip and outright make-believe then guess what - you are helping to spread that information and keep it in front of people's eyes. If you want to do that, then cool, I'm not judging you for that aspect of it - but don't take part in it and pretend you're above it at the same time.

Once again, your opinion!.But once again, that's YOUR standard (and maybe many other's) on what makes a straight male straight. Who made U the judge on what a straight man will or will not say? He has answered the question before of his sexuality in his lyrics and in at least one interview. He has said that he is not gay. That's not ambiguous at all. I think a man like him that can wear lace, heels, make up, ass-less pants, etc. is less interested in keeping a secret closeted lifestyle, and more interested in pushing the envelope and having the freedom 2 do so. And blurring the lines of what people like U says a man should and shouldn't be. I'm a black male with black and blonde dreadlocs , I wear eyeliner, tight fitting bootcut jeans, and lace gloves when I play guitar and perform in public. But I've been with countless women, on my 2nd marriage, and I have 2 kids. Does that, in your eyes, make me gay, or questionable even though I've never had a thought in my head about being with another man in all of my 29 years? Freedom of self expression, in more cases than U think, are just that, and not red flags of a man who "has a little sugar in his tank". U have your standards of manhood, I have mine. And neither is more correct than the other. |

I wouldnt care if she was gay or not. I like her but not big Sheila fan. She acted like she wanted to BE Prince in the 80's It was funny as hell. "Don't make me chase u, even doves have pride.." |

I didn't start the topic so I am not spreading the rumor, the question was asked, I answered originally "Who knows, maybe at some point, but not now." That is an opinion, no facts implemented. If a person wears a shirt/ring/etc with an illuminati member symbol, then stating "this person may be a member" is just stating a fact since its common knowledge that members usually wear the symbols of their clubs, etc.
Thank you!!! People don't seem to have any clue how they perpetuate the negative. |

So if spreading rumors is not cool or gossiping why do you do it? DaphneLovesPR1NCE said:
Learn to read and comprehend instead of trying to be so quick to insult or be witty. Some of the folks on this board obviously lead such dull and miserable lives because all they like to do is try to start drama! Find some inner peace before you reply to me ok! There is a big difference in participating in a discussion and starting/spreading rumors.
Dull and miserable life? Nope sorry. That's for folks like you to live to post dumb shit on a website. Drama? No. Calling people on their bullshit? Yep.
Why would you want to participate in a discussion that brings someone down? Some of you so-called Christians have some serious issues. |
