Wait a minute didn't she get engaged to Prince in 1988? Mind you Elton John got married to a lady in 1984 and now he is married to David Furnish, so you never know!
Yep,she was engaged to Prince in 1988.Her father even confirmed this, noting that "Prince almost became my son-in-law" |

In the NPGMC chat we did in chat with Sheila she said she was straight. Although there is nothing wrong withwith being gay spreading rumors about people is just fucked up. And if she were gay and didn't want anyone to know spreading it on the internet is once again fucked up. I have no idea why people do things to others that they would not want anyone to do to them. |

She is. I think her partner is her manager, a former Bride of Funkenstein or something.
Frankly, I never wanted to even say this b/c it really is none of any one's business but I know I dreamt of her many nights as a young teen/man! SO, I figure you all should be as disappointed as I was when I heard from a reliable source.
She's incredible and if she chooses not to say, it's none of your business!

Maybe a man isnt one of her top priority in the stage of her life. She also likely having some trusting issues with men due to her rough relationship with Prince, and plus she is a sexual abuse survivior. Her having no men around does not mean she is a lesbian.
But if she is gay or bisexual then that is cool too. I still love some sheila regardless her sexuality. |

My theory... they all probably gay. No kids, no boyfriend, no marriages/divorces etc. Longtime muscular thick chick best friend, yep probably gay. The man in her life is basicaly gay("I've got a split personality and part of me is female". And what do females like? Dick! No straight man would ever say what he said but moving on.) I believe we the public and fans, should be more understanding of the family history and cultural issues that keep celebs in the closet. So with that I'ma get offa this topic. |

I think it's because some gay people probably relate to her (and others) because they see similarities in mannerisms or what not and it makes them comfortable with their own sexuality struggles.
I think, in today's day and age, people seriously need to get over the fear of being called gay (whether they are or are not). Nobody trips when people think someone isn't a natural blond. Nobody trips when people think someone is a native Californian. Nobody trips when they think Sheila is puertorican but think someone is gay (even if they say they are straight---uhh, hello there Ricky Martin) and all of a sudden it's you've crossed the line.

What crosses the line is when people try to say opposite of what the person has said and call it fact. So to say "I know for a fact Sheila is gay" is what crosses the line. She hasn't come out, so whoever this person is doesn't know that for a fact, unless they are Sheila's lover themself and can produce some kind of evidence. We can have our speculations, but its when people try to act like they "know" is when its wrong. Or to use "stereotypes" to come up with this conclusion. And just because some celeb has gay tendencies or some gay person thinks this celeb is "like them" doesn't make that celeb gay. And being called gay when you aren't is still not cool. It can ruin reputations and really hurt someone. And it ain't right.. Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol |

She chooses to say whatever she says and it doesn't make a bit of difference cuz no one's curiosity or claims here on this website stands as proof.
Furthermore, celebrities and other public figures lie about their sexuality all the time and then are found out to be gay. Sheila E is not beyond that. |

The bottom line for me is that nobody, Sheila or anyone else, is obligated to tell you ANYTHING about their personal life--ANYTHING, their sexual preference, age, address, family members, what they eat for dinner, ANYTHING....unless they want to. Rumors shouldn't affect that decision either. No one should feel the need to dispute what anyone says. People are going to believe whatever they want. It seems that most interest in people's personal business is that of their sexual preference, doesn't it? Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.

Well 1st off if U're gonna use this as the basis 4 your arguement, let's get the facts straight and say the quote word 4 word, and then U'll see that what U are using 2 add legs 2 your arguement suddenly have become flimsy. I assume U're talking about the 1996 Oprah interview correct? Nowhere in that interview did Prince say he had a split personality and that part of him is female...the quote was "while taking a friend through therapy I found that I have another person living inside of me, and we haven't determined what sex that person is yet." So if U're gonna use someone's words 2 give credit 2 your opinion, make sure U know exactly what was said, and not what U think they were trying 2 say or what U think U remember them saying after not seeing the clip 4 a while, and U're just winging it going off of memory.
That's how alot of false rumors get started off of peoples perceptions or vauge memories. 2 this day people still belive that Elvis said "the only thing a black person can do 4 me is buy my records and shine my shoes" or that Tommy Hilfiger said that "if I knew black people would be my main customers, I wouldn't have gone in2 the clothing business." All because of hearsay, but noone can give facts or a source where these things were said. I'm just saying, make sure your facts are straight.... |

OMG, Mindbells 9, you just about covered it. I am always amazed at how some people will take something like what you referred to with Elvis and Hilfiger, as well as the (so-called) Prince quote and run with it as if it were fact. The internet has allowed this to expand beyond belief! Someone will make a statement and whether it's factual or not, it begins its run around the net. That "theory" that you responded to was just crazy! I think you handled it...... Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.

I was paraphrasing, not caring at all what the exact quote was, because the jist of it was a guy, questioning his own sexuality. Publicly. Those words, those thoughts even would not have come from a heterosexual man. |

Christian people are NOT the only ones that have a problem with homosexuality. So stop trying to rag on Christians, you need to drop your hangups! That isn't the point anyway. There are alot of things in this world that isn't "acceptable" to someone. So it CAN ruin a reputation. Spreading a rumor about someone that isn't true is WRONG. I don't give a fuck if celebs lie about their sexuality. Until they are out, its all just a rumor. And unless they come out and says it themselves, its not someone else's place. Prince is GORGEOUS. No, the GIST of it is that you have decided that you want to assume that both Sheila and Prince have something they need to hide from you. YOU say, "those words, those thoughts even would not have come from a heterosexual man" (and that is not a paraphrase), but the quote is simply another crazy theory, another rumor, another assumption. Your saying it does not make it true. Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.
