Ottensen

Are you kidding? That was her first movie. confuse

She's gone on to do fantastic work since then. Although she might be considered by some to be mainly a French actress now, she has had wonderful roles in highly acclaimed English language films: Four Weddings and a Funeral, The English Patient, Richard III, Gosford Park. While we don't see her non-stop in the Hollywood spotlight, she's not exactly considered a b or c-list actress, like say, Carmen Electra? She been nominated for some pretty prestigious awards from her peers through the years. If anythng, I think UTCM is like a blip on the radar of her life's work thus far-more like a punch line to a joke reporters ask her during press junkets.coffee

Couldn't have articulated that better.

As for Carmen I dont even consider her an actress..I mean "scary movie"..lol ..b/c list is too kind..but she has managed to keep some sort of career going for herself ever since Prince discovered her...so good for her I guess.

her TALENT is what made her career, but yes, Prince gave her a platform to showcase it. Too bad that movie didn't get the reception they hoped for, but she made it anyway and they all moved on. Don't be bitter smile

You're absolutely right, I cannot write, produce, sing, dance, play an instrument or act. But I'm not trashing Prince either. All I'm saying is that despite the fact that UTCM flopped, KST had (and will continue to have ) a very admirable career as an actress. most people agree on that (without insulting anybody).

This is what I know about the woman. She chooses to live in Europe and not LA. That alone will keep her out of sight and out of mind for some roles. She tends to not make those romantic comedies or other movies which are pointless but will bring in big money. She does a decent amount of stage work and that is not going to get her on Entertainment Tonight either.

She is an extremely talented actress who has chosen quality over $$$ and not being as famous as Jennifer Aniston or Sarah Jessica Parker is the price she has paid. I however think that she lives quite well, doesn't have to have half the staff of the JoliePitts and certainly hasn't given delivering Pizza any thought in recent years.

Amen. Her talent and fortitude. Had Prince not hired her someone else might have. I don't know what her next film was after "Under The Cherry Moon" but I doubt that she got it strictly because she was in "Under the Cherry Moon"! Saying that Prince made her career is like saying Warner Bros. made Prince worth a mention. Prince did not hire her to help out poor woman. He had originally wanted his girlfriend to play the role but she didn't have the chops for it and he recognized the talent that was needed to pull the role off in Kristen Scott Thomas.

Agreed. Kristen has done quite well for herself.

After the release of UTCM in 1986, the movie received a lot of bad reviews. Kristin Scott Thomas tried her hardest to promote the movie on various shows, but she was quite embarrassing at times when she couldn't explain the movie. There's a clip of her being interviewed on Good Morning America and it was so disturbing. The media acknowledged her as a great talent, but do you think UTCM destroyed her acting career?

Unusual joke but still funny.

Jason where have u been 4 the last 25 years?! Have u never seen Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Horse Whisperer or Mission Impossible to name just three. Personally I don't really like posh actors. She annoyed me in Under The Cherry Moon, she was so stuck up.
