You know, I thought I had stumbled upon some deadstock, since the listing said it was the 1989 pressing, and well, do the originals really go for much more than that these days?

I told the seller I am returning the one I got in the mail today.

Yes, originals sell for much more than that these days.

It is unfortunate that people are trying to pass this off as an original, but there will be plenty of people who buy this and will be delighted with it.

The chances of getting an original Paisley Park Jill Jones, The Family or Madhouse cd which is still sealed is very slim, in fact i'm going to confidently say it's almost impossible.

I don't even have a Moquake account, so thanks for bringing that to my attention. The Jill Jones I got doesn't have such an obviously different traycard.

Note that Jill Jones came in a longbox, so there should be no (US) sealed copies unless it's actually still in the longbox. I'm not sure if the Japanese CDs were packaged in a longbox or if there were Euro pressings.

I do have an extra legitimate CD copy of Jill Jones I can sell, but unfortunately, it won't be priced as low as those fake Amazon/Ebay discs. Holla if interested.

It was sealed and not in a longbox so there ya go. I didn't know they all came in longboxes! I thought that was just an optional way of presenting CDs back then.

Looks like Warner-Pioneer out of Japan took care of a lot of Prince's catalog on CD!

I knowingly bought a counterfeit Apollonia 6 CD off eBay a few years back just to have a digital copy, but after listening to it I realized it was sourced from vinyl.

I still don't have a real copy, but I do have a Flac CD rip now.

I have a real Madhouse 16 cd, but needed a copy of 8. I bought one from Amazon a couple of years back knowing that it was a fake (£25 too good to be true) but was slightly dissapointed to find that it was a vinyl rip, and quite a bad one. I understand that knowingly buying a fake copy does not entitle me to complain, but i would have thought the least they could have done was de-click the music.

Yes you could, it is easy to find a cd rip in Flac of most of Prince's associated artists these days, and with a decent scanner and high quality printer you could be punting them out on ebay, or better still ioffer (most sellers on there do not even bother with artwork and just sell cd-r's) before you know it.

Well I got a refund for the cost of the disc which was the most prohibitive. I was told I would be refunded the cost of shipping once it was returned as long as I didn't leave negative feedback. I would have left positive feedback if the entire return had gone through.

This person is no longer a registered member on eBay.

Actually the entire payment (shipping too) was refunded. Still disappeared from eBay!

Mine was a genuine copy and though i forgot how much i sold it last summer, i don't think it was more than 35 or 45 euros, and it was the same for the Madhouse albums and all my other rarities. These fakes are ruining the market, without them i'm sure my CD's could have been sold for at least 100 bucks each. Damn crooks i hate 'em!!!
