Does anyone remember Tony LeMans?

Tony LeMans had a solid, if not great, debut album on Paisley Park in 1990 (I believe), but died soon after in a car crash. I think he may have been an interesting talent to follow. Does anyone recall this album and what do you all think of it?

I thought Tony LeMans cd was one of the few great projects that came out of the park. Tony died in a motorcycle accident. The only thing that bothered me is that he tried really hard to look like Prince.

Tony was slightly like Lenny Kravitz in style, not too much like Prince, I think he dug Sly Stone. Very LA black rock at the time. So sad he passed away.

Recently in the Newz section of NPGMC.com, Prince gave him props. "The late great Tony Lemans".

We haven't forgotten ya' man.

the Album came out in 1989."Higher&Higher was the main cut.it sounded like a Cross between Sly Circa early 70's&Prince's "lovesexy" title track. He was working on a 2nd album before His death.heard a story that one time Him&Prince got into it&Tony wasn't allowed in the studio for a while. He died far too young&He had promise. He was Dating Vanity's sister back in 89&was seating with Her on the Arsenio Hall's show&Hall said when you get a Hit you can come on down or something along those lines.

I have that album and I find it to be very disapointing. It consists primarily of lite-funk tracks that don't really go anywhere.Songs like "Cookie Crumbles" and "Rhythm Rocker" are simply not distinctive or original.Tony was never that great a vocalist, either. The lone bright spot on his album is the dreamy ballad "Forever More",which features Tony singing in a Prince-like falsetto.

Like the Good Question album,Tony's album wasn't very memorable.

Tony LeMans really did not aspire to much, quite aside from modelling his entire look on the "motorcycle" portion of the 'When Doves Cry' video.

Which is ironic when you think about it.

That's wild that he was working with Lenny way back. What year did he die again? How old was he also? I think it's funny Mani looks like Lisa Bonet a bit. Lisa Bonet would have been a cool choice for Prince but Lenny would Never. I happened to but Tony's album and 12" when it first came out. You should always do that.

Tony Lemans died in 92 from a Motercycle Accident.26 I Believe was his age at the time of His death.Lisa Bonet had a Chance too work on a video for Prince but nothing more came of that.I remember back in 88 reading "Right ON! Magazine&She called Prince a Male Chavunist (Misspelled).

I had a chance to work with Tony while in Minneapolis. We were involved in a side project which we took out to Califorinia to record. He was a very influencial friend and amazingly talented song writer. The song "Rythm Rocker" is about a van that we use to ride to rehearsals in while in Minneapolis.Tony is very muched missed by those of us who knew him.

I knew of him for years but since Prince had nothing to do with his Paisley Park release, I passed on it. I picked it up a few years ago and couldnt stop listening to it.
