^ hmmm Now that gives me a reason to pause. And you are right... if a man (anyone other than Prince) would tell that story, not ONE of us would believe that story.

"Girl, you never cease to amaze." part was directed at Daphne. Not Sag10.

Here love for Prince is definitely blind. And her response to that sickening article was that it was "romantic" proves that.

clapping

MJ sleeping with underage kids makes him a pedophile. Prince does it and it's romantic. GTFOOHWTBS.

Yeah, for Prince I would have!! My mom may not have allowed it though...hell, I'm almost guaranteed she wouldn't have allowed it. I think her parents should be ashamed for allowing such nonsense. I guess money will make people do anything. But if it were my decision, I would have. I graduated and left home at 16 anyway. So to go and work for Prince and be his muse, I would do it in a NY minute!! biggrin But I think you are smart for not entertaining the idea, it can get you in alot of trouble, as it did Mayte, she wasn't ready for what a man like Prince needed. Seeing as how it was more than just work...

OMG shut up.

Oh... I didn't even notice that your response included a quote of my post. We all know who you were directed your statement to.

Daphne has been MIA lately... did she leave the org?

I like this interview from 2008, quite insightful into her choice to pursue acting over the music industry: http://www.c-heads.com/20...te-garcia/

Before Mayte met Prince she was already a professional dancer doing ballet at Wiesbaden Stadt Theatre and having performed on TV & done performances in Egypt etc. It is not uncommon for children who study dance to her degree to have careers over even their school work.

I am pretty sure she was earning and shaping her own career back then with her own purse strings. Her own mother was a dance teacher and she cut the broken wings & too dramatic CD's when she damaged herself before she moved to MPLS.

Was it not Mayte who stated she was dragged to that first prince concert? Then they were basically penpals sending music & dance videos to each other before she turned 18 and was invited to MPLS & given her own apartment etc.

I am sure prior to 18 her parents were by her side, yet even to this day she admits Prince had complete power over her choices and how life was as he was her first everything and she never knew any different. Its not unknown or uncommon for people to fall inlove through a working relationship.

At the end of the day Prince is a showman and what you see on stage and hear in the songs is just an act, in reality it was probarly much different rehersing with the man that demanded perfection.

^ right, and yet Mayte has nothing but good to say about Prince. She has spoken about she admires his passion for perfection and how much she learned from him. I have never heard a bitter tone from her when speaking about him. Look at the debacle that Halle finds herself in with her ex not to mention Camille Graham. And I don't think think either of those women had anything close to the heart ache and tragedy that Mayte experienced while married to prince.

Thanks for the link. I never read that article before.

Would you-at 17 or 18 years old- leave your parents to live and work with someone twice your age?

Im saying that she did naything wrong. Actually the opposite. She's very brave, but I don't think I would have made that decision because Im at that age now and I can't even image leaving my parents to work for a man I've only know for a year or so through letters.

Sorry if something like this has been posted but It's not easy looking through all these threads. boxed

There were other factors behind Mayte's decision.

Hmph ... How ya doin' Hucky ??? (P's old bodyguard, go figure) ...

Peace ... & Stay Funky ...
