Levi Seacer and Juan E (Sheila's brother) at Jodi Watley in SF last night Went to see Jody Watley at Yoshi's SF last night.
Jody was really great!!! Sounded good. Looked great. Was really cool. She came out into the audience for the encore of "Real Love" and took pics with people while singing. Great show.
I recognied Juan Escovedo on percussion right away, which I thought was odd cuz Sheila and her family were playing the same night up in Vallejo, but I guess he had this gig first or something.
I didn't realize it until she introduced the band during "Still a thrill" that the guitar player who was doing crazy solos was Levi Seacer!
Very cool. So yet more ways Jody is "connected" to Prince as it were (beyond the fact that Andre Cymone was her ex husband and co-wrote stuff with her).
If Jody plays your area, definitely go see her. It is worth it.

I refuse to acknowledge the existence of Yoshi's SF. That is all...

Very cool. I would love to see her again. I caught the Larger Than Life tour at a small club in Chicago back in the day, Andre was on guitar. Did she do all the hits? Looks like it was a one off concert and no tour at the moment. TRUE BLUE

I posted this on FB:
Let's see... what I remember (not in order): Some Kinda Lover, Looking for A new Love, Don't you Want me, Everything (amazing live!), Still A Thrill (with band intro), Friends (with rap!), Borderline (from The Makeover), I want your love (Chic cover), a few other songs from The Makeover which were good but I can't remember the names, Bed of Roses (I just looked it up ).
