Prince versus The Time 2010 Prince has mentioned that on occasions The Time kicked his ass during The Triple Threat Tour for the 1999 album back in 1982/83. Given where they are today musically do you think The Time could kick Prince and his current band's ass musically?

Nope, not a chance. Prince is far too big now for the likes of them. All they have are "The Bird", "Jungle Love", "Cool", and "777-9311"; however those are cool songs, but Prince has a broader and much better catalogue. But I do see what you mean with that spare of time they have to make an impact. But remember when The Time opened again for Musicology? And some of the crowds kept on chanting for Prince, lol. Kinda sucks that those songs are all they got under their belts, in a major sense. And of course, their comedy is what helps the band too. But to answer the question, nope, not really. Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

I would love 2 c them on the same tour and show but, I don't think it will happen. I still think The Time can take on Prince and his new band. It would be interesting, knowing the history of Prince and The Time. The Time is still a tight band and could be even better if they wanted to. Remember also, back in 2004 that was "Morris Day and The Time" not "The Time". No disrespect, I love both bands and all. I must say that it's something about The Time that I think still keep Prince from doing one more show with them. I think The Time show take some of Prince's songs and perform them. Certain songs I know they could pull off. It would be crazy like (for example) I could c The Time performing "New Position" and killing it.

Ok we all know I'm biased, but the Time would kick his ass. Granted the Time has a much smaller catalog to work with, but 90% of its killer. Now yeah if Prince did like his 20 best songs and had a killer band it would be close and that's a good thing.
I went to multipe shows during the musicology tour and while they were all good, you could tell Prince was pulling out all the stops on the shows the Time were opening for him. And that was the touring version. Now if you throw Jesse in there and put Jerome back in the show look out. Ask anybody that went to Vegas in 2008.
I'd love to see it them tour together, it would make BOTH of their shows better

If the Time could get the new music out and it's good then they could get back to that status of being "the only band Prince is afraid of". Until then NO COMPETITION. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Musically they can't surpass their creator. They are Prince's alter ego. Performance wise, they're amazing, but without the Prince penned or co-penned material, where would they be? -Silk

The Time ALWAYS kicks Prince's Ass!! There is not a better talented band than The Time!! I just wish they would come back and quit screwing around!!

He should go ahead and be cool with the Time & the Family and get some good musical chemistry going, those 2 bands should be opening for him

If the originals get out there then MAYBE. If it's the group morris has been fronting then NO. Still they need new material to go up against him. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Oh yeah of course, I'm talking about the original Time band

That's a great idea, but they'd find a way to make it lame. I don't see any respect for the legacy or passion for the music from Prince or The Time. At this point, you've got to wonder is it about anything more than money and ego-tripping. Maybe that's all it was ever about.

For me, simply on the merit of those Triple Threat shows The Time owns Prince hands down. The Time was on point every moment of their show. Perfection! All my lovers need stimulation.
Prince's shows were almost a different beast with the grandiosity and drama and iconic presence and story; I mean I was excited to hear Free, but I was wore out from the night by the time he played it. Prince seemed to load the front end of those shows with some of his more dynamic material and hold on to Purple Rain and the like for the end. It should make sense, but ...
Anyway, my vote for tightest drummer ever = Jellybean.
