Most of the videos I have for associated acts were recorded B.D.E. (Before Digital Era) on VHS tape and I don't even have a player at this point.

I know there are some collections floating around out there, fanmade and otherwise, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend some titles. I'm not interested in concerts at this point, just the original, official promo videos.

Can anyone help?

I would like to know this too, i have been watching the protege videos on youtube, but i would love them in top quality on dvd. I do not know of any promo video collections out there.

The only dvd i know of is the Sheila E Romance 1600 Live which i mentioned in my Sheila thread.

There are none.

The Romance 1600 DVD is a bootleg, taken either from the released VHS or Laserdisc.

Maybe one day, but for now we have to be satisfied with the "Altered" stuff on youtube.

Hell, there's not even an official DVD of the Syracuse 85 show or the Sign O The Times movie.

Sad...

I actually wasn't asking about "official" releases as I know there are none. I've seen bootleg releases but have no idea of the quality, etc, which is why I'm asking.

Isnt this a repackaging of the Brazillian release? More than one review on the amazon site complains of horrible sound and picture quality, claiming that SOTT deserves an "official" release.

I have a copy of this (not in this packaging)...I really didnt have a problem with the sound, but the picture is way too dark. During "SOTT" after the band enters drumming, you cant make out the faces of any of the black folks it's so dark. And all shots of the crowd are just...darkness. The colors of costumes and the overall stage are off, etc.

Hey, it works for me, but I consider this a boot.

No. I have that Brazilian release as well (with the portuguese text on the back and a Purple Rain era pic on the front). This one is damn-near perfect as far as DVDs go. Obviously the transfer was from a very clean film print and is at the correct aspect ratio. The sound is superb. The only sure way I know of to get this Alliance/Universal DVD is from the Canadian Amazon site, as they were the first to retail it:
