... interesting. I wonder on which tracks because as far as i've seen, is that her name doesn't appear in the credits of their debut album. But maybe she performed on their second album, or the unreleased sessions ... great to read, thanks again !

Apparently the tracks were Strawberry Lover and I Guess It's All Over. Remember that she was not credited for a lot of tracks she did for people. This seems to be a common thing with Prince and Prince releated projects, people sang or played instruments on certain albums and not all of those people got a credit.

Jill never seemed to be a priority in Prince's life. She had a tiny role in 'Purple Rain' and in the sequel, she plays The Kid's girlfriend but it's such an insignificant role.In neither film, she doesn't even get to sing one of her own songs! 'GB' finds her lipsyncing to Elisa Fiorilla's vocals on "Love Machine".

It does seem a shame that she was not given bigger roles in these movies, also her album taking as long as it did, she deserved more success.

Yep,it appears that her album was placed on the backburner for many years while Prince was more focused on Sheila E,Apollonia 6 and others.Jill's album should have been released in 1984 or '85,so that she could taken advantage of the Purple Rain hype.By the time it was finally released in 1987,songs like "Mia Bocca","All Day/All Night" and "G-Spot" were sorta outdated and didn't stand a chance on the pop music charts in '87.

I thought I read that Jill would sing back stage behind the curtain on V6 sets to bolster the girls vocals...like she would sing Vanity's parts with Jill's mike turned down, and Vanity would sing over her... so that Jill's voice would "fill out" Vanity's weaker voice. I always felt like Jill was his "bottom beoytch" He said "maybe I'll marry her".... he should have. She always had his back.
urban dictionary:
Bottom bitch
The one that big pimp playa style daddy can count on to be right there even when he's at the bottom.

Yes, i don't think Jill was "seen" on stage with Vanity 6, I assume she stayed behind the curtain, along with the The Time who provided their music.

Yep that's Kim Ups.... something
1 thing I love about the movie, just about everyone in Prince's real life was in that movie
Even Tony Christian from Mazarati(guitar) who was an engineer I believe for Prince was in the Taste:Sex Shooter scene

Kinda makes you wonder why Prince didn't just make Jill a member of Vanity 6.They could have been a quartet like the Mary Jane Girls.Jill would have made them sound so much better.

Great thread and wonderful pix. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Is that Andre Cymone waiting in line at the first Ave. at 2:49 into the movie dressed in a tan jump suit with black boots and sunglasses on (during lets go crazy)????

I really like her song ' The ground you walk on' from the Earth Girls Are Easy soundtrack. In the film the song is sung by Geena Davis. I think it should have been released as a single, it could have been a hit.

Interesting, now why were all these dates overseas and not in US? Just seems to me even Jill's publicity was screwed up. I don't know, I wouldn't think an attempt to debut an UNKNOWN "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

I remember in the summer of 1987,there were rumors that Jill would be the opening act on Prince's US 'SOT'T tour but of course, the tour never made its way to America. That would have some great exposure for Jill.
