Diamond Prince Pearls: Were They Dating Prince

I've been reading a lot of post about Prince's proteges, but I rarely read anything about the two lovely ladies that Prince named Diamonds and Pearls. Was P in a relationship with these two women? I was facinated by them.

He was in a short relationship with "diamond"... and not Pearl, but who knows.
