Ancestry In Progress, it is probably her most commercial sounding album but it is a goodie, and it has a duet with Erykah Badu....never a bad thing.

I'm still not sure what to make of her solo album, i don't think i like it, sure she can play the bass though. I'm still a little disappointed Prince's new bassist is not Tal Wilkenfeld, i know that she was probably not in for the job anyway, but i have a crush on her and her solo album is f**king great.

Oh, me too, hehe, maybe it is something about female bassists? Have you heard Rhonda's solo albums? I have both, Intellipop and RS2, they are okaaaay. Not my type of stuff, but no denying her bass talents.

I have em both and heard em both when I first bought em, haven't listened to them since. She is 'wicked' on the bass and I love her voice, it's not what you expect, she looks like she's possibly and 'air-head' but then she speaks and she proves you shouldn't judge someone according to just their looks.
She is FiiiIIIiiIIIiiNNnnNNnnnEeeEEee !!! Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

AN INTERVIEW WITH BASSIDA IS COMING!!!
the danish musicsite gaffa.dk has this as the most viewed news story right now: "Prince on tour with danish bassist",
Gaffa has spoken to her and she says she doesn't want to do an interview untill later (the interview will come later on gaffa's site!),
right now she's in rehearsals in Minneapolis, she "is learning 40,000 songs" she says.

That's one thing that amazes me when someone new joins the band, the amount of material they must learn is staggering!

Tal is going to be on the new album though, isn't that right? But, I agree, would have loved to see her on tour with him. Who knows why that isn't happening?
Its funny though, Tal was previously playing bass for Jeff Beck - well, I went to see Jeff in concert recently and who was playing bass for him..........Rhonda Smith!!! ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

To add to what I said above, I've just read that poor Tal injured herself at the end of August and was unable to complete her tour with Herbie Hancock. Even if she's recovered by now (which I don't know), she wouldn't have had the time enough to rehearse with Prince for the new shows - may well be an explanation as to why she is on the album, but not on tour? ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

I know. I remember years ago in magazine article he made a comment about how he would love to have an all girl band. I think it was around the time Rhonda and Kat Dyson were in the band. Considering his revolving line-up, it would not be hard to do. Sheila or Cora or drums. Cassandra O'Neal on keys, Ida or Rhonda on bass. Candy on sax if he needs some sax. Maybe should could find some other female horn players for trumpet and trombone. Sheila on percussion. Shelby, Elisa and Liv singing backup.P doing his thing on vocals and guitar. That would be hot! perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

Why Prince make rock-n-roll so hard? Always trying to complicate things.
