Give it up for Michael B! Michael B was/is the real deal. Funky, tight playing... a musician's musician. What are some of your favorite drum parts he's played on with Prince?

I`ve said it before - i`m gonna say it again : he`s my favorite drummer out of all the drummers who worked with Prince. I like them all - they`re all different too, i happen to like hom the most. Don´t forget songs like Hide the bone, Guitar, 3121, Daddy Pop, the unreleased Madhouse 24 album, Strays of the world ....wow, so many awesome recordings. I don`t think any Prince drummer layed down so many tracks in the studio like he did. Or is there anyone? I don`t think so. Bobby, Kirk, Sheila, John (he`s on a lot of tracks while he was with Prince), Cora. No. Michael recorded a lot. He`s sooo tight. Someone once said : "The funkiest rockdrummer, the rockiest Funkdrummer". Make sure you check out the "Sons of almighty" Cd, that one has amazing drumming. And then there are a couple of great tracks with Ricky Peterson and Phil Upchurch. Peace and love to you, Michael Bland!

Great drummer, Sheila has always been my favourite because she was/is a fantastic drummer and also looked/looks hot. But Michael is a force, a piledriver of a drummer, his drumming style suited the NPG perfectly around the time he was a member.

I loved his understated drumming style during his NPG tenure. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. | |
