WTH?? I have never seen this album anywhere else except in my collection!! A friend of mine who used to be musical director for the Whispers gave it to me. He had done some with with Fats Gaines. I can't get to it right now, but I never noticed Boni's input. Never know what you're going to see on the org!!! wink

Hey, very cool and inspiring to read about that. Did you ever get the chance to visit a show of Zorina with the Fats Gaines Band ?

I've heard some live-shows from The Whispers around the 80's and those shows have an incredible high energy,

and a number of musicians in their backup-band were from the Solar Records group Collage from which a few also appear in the credits of that project :

Fats Gaines Band presents... @ Discogs

The album seemed to have been noticed by the collector's scene in recent years. About 5 or 6 years ago i visited a recordfair and every year there

were some sellers who also had a few unfamiliar records from independent labels in their crates. One seller had his most expensive collector items posed at

a vinyl-wall and there i suddenly saw that particular album. I never saw it before and the price was quite high. I thought about it one day and decided still

to buy it the next day, but it was already sold lol. Then, a few years after that disappointment, the album was surprisingly re-issued on vinyl and cd.

You'll find various copies of those online, although the original release (like the one you have) is still a valuable collector's item.

It was a surprise for me too that the late Boni Boyer co-wrote this track. Thanks again for sharing your story !

Well thanks, Shango, for letting me know I have a collectors item! biggrin I had no idea!! I never got a chance to see Zorina and Fats Gaines live. I always got the impression (right or wrong) that they were mainly West Coast and I wasn't there.

You're welcome NewPowerSista ! Ah, i see about the West Coast story.

If i may also ask ... would your friend/musical director happen to be Larry White from the group Collage ?

Here an overview of the prices for which the album has been sold popsike.com - fats zorina...on results

I remember Larry! Guitar, right? No, my friend was John Parrish. He played trumpet with the Whispers for years and for one while was their musical director.

Thanks for the website. I'm going to check and see if I want to get rid of Fats and Zorina! wink lol

Yep, Larry the guitarist and i think he was also sort of leading Collage with producing and stuff. Ah, John Parrish ... the producer of the Fats/Zorina project. Cool and thanks for sharing.

You might get a good price for that album if you sell it on eBay lol, but better to keep it in your collection since it's also a personal gift.
