i'm usually really disappointed by covers of prince songs,

but storm gordon's cover of i wish you heaven was pretty good.

can anyone recommend any decent covers?

The only GREAT cover I've heard is Esperanza Spaulding singing "If I Was Your Girlfriend" on the BET Awards.

Of course you have stuff like "I Feel For You" from Chaka Khan that is really great. Jill Jones covered "With You" and I think put more feeling into it than Prince's original.

There's an interesting cover of "Girls and Boys" by Marcus Miller with Macy Gray on vocals. I kind of dig that.

I still think Cyndi Lauper's "When U Were Mine" is one of the best.

I was just bringing up some French band's ( I think) very meticulous cover of the entire Black Album, arranged almost exactly but with cheaper instrument voices and vocals.

Every song. In sequence.

This is pretty decent.

The list of Prince-covers is endless, and although most of them aren´t really great, there are numerous coverversions which I quite like, such as:

But, as said before, in the end it´s just all down to personal taste ...

"I Would Die 4 U" By El Mariachi The Bronx. It was on Spin Magazine's "Purplish Rain" tribute album download that came free with the "The Purple Rain" 25th anniversary issue. Cool Mariachi cover, I was pleasantly surprised! Some of the other tracks on the tribute album kinda sucked, though.

^ I´m not familiar with that cover by Narcotic Thrust. Do you have any more info about it?
(Or is there a chance you´re referring to a coverversion of I Would Die 4 U by Space Cowboy?)

Tina's Baby I'm a Star is not bad either.

I love the 5 cd shockadelica tribute.. there are loads of goodies on there. My favourite of all is still chaka khan's "I feel for you" which I have now got my kids into.. they have got to start somewhere!!

The foo fighters cover of Darlin Nikki is definitely the best one!

This is one of the few covers I have ever heard that I like.
