Tell us more about it, please. Did she play with her dad or was she just there to see the show? Seeing the Escovedo family jam together is a wonderful thing.

I could've started another thread about Sheila E. but why? This one is great. Gonna see Sheila E. perform at Yoshi's on Sunday! Can't wait! It will be interesting to see who turns up there with her--family members or who knows?! biggrin

Sheila E. was amazing at the show! On fire, full of energy, and having fun! Her band sounded tight even though a few of the members hadn't played with her before! Bobby on lead guitar was blazing as was the keyboardist who has been with her since the Purple Rain tour. She had the audience up and dancing to old songs, including Glamourous Life and Love Bazaar; she also performed Get On The Boat and Pop Life. And surprise! Sheila sang a brand new song written for her by Prince called The Leader of the Band (dedicated to her father)! I guess Sheila and Prince are getting along just fine despite rumors to the contrary! lol Over all, a great concert! biggrin

BTW I sat a a table with a drummer who had played with Sheila and her siblings when he knew her in highschool... He said the livingroom was littered with all kinds of percussion instruments...not a TV in sight... lol Her brother Juan was there as well but he didn't perform.

I have a CD that I bought at the concert called "From E To U" that contains the song Prince wrote for her called "Leader of the Band." The other songs on the CD are entitled: "Mona Lisa", "Glorious Train", "Waters of Life", and "Trust Me." Whether the others were penned by Prince or not, I don't know.

I was at the 9pm Yoshi's. Words can't describe!!! Seriously.... the show was one of the best (if not THE best) concerts I ever saw!

1st song was "Leader of the band" which is really good (and on the CD Zina was selling at the door).

Oliver's house was 2nd and it was great! Bobby G the guitar guy really tore up the guitar!

Get on the Boat was very exciting.

Love Bizarre was the great arrangement she's been doing for a while. She called up 2 people to dance (like Patti Labelle does!) and they were really great. Also a little girl came up she could not have been more than 3 yeras old and she stole the stage too smile

Other highlights were:

* Pop life

* Glam life (of course)

* The 2nd encore was America and Brownmark came out for an extended jam on it.

As mentioned, Cat Grey (Earl?) from her original band was on keyboards so it was a nice mini reuninon.

The whole band killed it and Sheila said they only did a sound check.... no rehearsal! If you evfer have the oppty to see her...... RUN DON"T WALK to buy the tickets!

Co-worker just told me she saw sheila last week in the bay area.

Apparently an announcement was made that she's going on tour with Prince soon.

Holy spumoni, can this be real or was my co-worker drinking too much wine?
