She can't, she needs to market her body.

She gets jobs because of both her looks and acting abilities, but she remains as a relatively obscure actress/model. I am a fan and will support, but its because I learned of her through Prince and not from her own merits. But these looks will be the order of the day until she gets a break-out role or modeling gig where she can command and call the shots and not have to cater to the male drool factor so much.

Most models and actresses that are obscure like Mayte market them selves this way because they have to, it comes with the territory. This is how her photos will look until she either ages out or becomes a household name in her own right.

Mayte is absolutely gorgeous. I have always liked her, BUT I don't understand all the hate people have for Bria?? There is nothing wrong with her looks. She can't sing, but neither can Mayte or many other female friends of Prince's. I think the hate towards her is ridiculous. If he enjoys her company, that's all that really matters.

Like I said before I'm a big Mayte fan. I'm just saying that sometimes she crosses over the line into what I consider to be tasteless.

Now these new pictures are still reasonable, but what I find lacking in taste is for example this one:

Yes she looks fine as hell, but it's again the sex kitten pose and she's done that many times already. (Remember Nip-Tuck?) Secondly, she's in her mid-30s - she's been playing this part since she was 18 - we've seen it all before - and she keeps doing the same type of photography.

Why doesn't she mix it up a little - some bikini shots, but also eg. couture/fashion shots?

IMHO, this type of photography will only get her acting parts like the one in Nip Tuck, and will not help her to be taken more seriously by her acting peers.

First of all, Mayte is not a couture model. Couture models are taller, thinner, and represented by agencies catering to high fashion in major industry capitals like Milan, Paris, London, and New York.

Second, as Paintedlady mentioned, Mayte's an LA girl whose work is geared towards a fitness/swimsuit demographic, therefore the publicity photos used for her model's book, composite card, agency representation and website need to reflect that. You don't work as a judge for "Dance Your Ass Off" and release a bellydancing/fitness dvd, and then turn around and have all your pics with you dressed heavily in Ready to Wear and couture. A potential client would at the very least laugh at a comp card sent their way with her dressed like that, or at worst, be pissed off that an agent wasted their time sending the wrong "type" for whatever casting their working on for presumed fitness/beauty/swimwear project. When i freelanced as an assistant editor for Fitness and PREVENTION magazines, the only books we were looking at were with the girls who had mostly swimwear and body shots; this is so it could be determined if they would look right in whatever swimwear, or excercise/fitness story we were shooting. Trust, there is a method to the madness

Third, the pics above are clearly from a magazine. From the looks of it (I'm going to go out on a limb and guess) it's one of those popular men's magazines a la MAXIM or FHM, in which case, skimpy wardrobe is de rigeur for for their shoots. You get shot for one of these magazines, you already know going in that you'll be photographed as a glam kitten archtype. That's just what it is.

Additionally, a model doesn't have any say in what they are photographed in for magazines; that is the choice of the editor and stylist, with some input by the photographer (depending on how powerful he is). A celebrity or media personality will have input on what they like or don't like or will flatly refuse to wear, but she is not yet a celebrity of that caliber. Still, with her background as a dancer in ballet and bellydance,i think the last thing she's afraid of is baring a midriff or wearing small shorts or two pieces, so I doubt swimsuits are offensive to her, and are pretty much in line with what she's comfortable with wearing.

If anything I see her as knowing her demographic and staying in her lane...and insofar as how focusing on the beauty/swimwear/fitness demo has affected her career? I recall her having a leading role in the show "Army Wives" for a short time and that worked out well enough.

These look like "testing" shots to me, or at least something the photographer slipped her until he does his final edit. In the old days shots like this could tell you how fierce a photographer you were using because their true talent lies in what they know (or don't) about lighting. These days with digital photography now ruling, all sorts of technical issues can be corrected on the computer. In any event, I agree that yes, his/her light is not up to par.

Mayte is beautiful and has been able to maintain her looks. Her body is still nice and tone, but......for the first time, I could see a sad spirit about her.

She appeared sad in these pictures as if there is a void somewhere.

She makes the usual poses but with no smile, and appears a little empty.

She's still my girl, but this is what I see when looking at the pics.

Trust me you guy's are way out.

She makes an awesome print model (magazines) I also loved the Bedhead commercials too. I'm shocked she isn't in more hair commercial with that gorgeous mane she is working with.

And I don't know why some think she's sad/depressed... the personal pics she shares on her FB profile are ones that show a very happy and balanced woman.
