Dez dickerson-Purple rain song There is a song dez dickerson is playing in the club in the movie, it's called modernaire. Does a full version of this song exist? this has to be the hardest associated prince artist song to find.

I think that this was meant to be the start of a new project.Back when the movie came out, there was talk of a possible album by Dez Dickerson and the Modern-Aires.In a 1985 interview,Dez said that Warners were planning to release this song as a single on two separate occassions---the first release date was in the summer of '84,and the second release date was planned for a year later! Does anyone else have any details about this elusive track?

From what I remember reading back in '85 (gotta find them old Rolling Stone and Right On! mags) Dez was to release an album via Warner Bros (or MCA...cant remember)..."Modernaire" was to be released as the single...I believe the single made to the manuafacturing stage but never released...shelved...never saw the light of day...I'll research and see if I could find more details... Dez was my favorite early band member. I heard him perform "Modernaire" in concert way back in the day. Unfortunately, the most memorable thing about his show was that he slipped and fell on stage. Oh yeah, he tossed out guitar pics with "Dez" imprinted on them. I managed to get a couple. I also remember that he wasn't very tall and that he had a white wife.

Yeah, I saw him perfrom too, not a bad performance. I always thought he would look a bit bigger & taller than he was. ~KiKi

Funny how race permeates everything even when it doesnt have anything to do with anything. Anyway... If you havent sought out Dez's OneMan album, get it. I ordered it from his website and he sent it autographed! I always thought that Dez was easily the best guitarist Prince ever had. There was a single promo released of Modernaire. I have a bootleg with a song tha he made solo but I cant recall the name of it ...cause FACE said so!!!
