First, I have a friend named Brenda (yeah, that is her real name) who has a very nice voice. She has sung in public but it's not how she make her living. Anyway she recently booked some studio time and some musicians and made a cd of love songs for her new husband. I thought that was very cool. It's not something for anybody else but him.

Maybe when elixer was recorded Ms Bria thought that that is what Prince was doing. He loves to hear his women sing and I would wage a bet that in that vault of his is a recortding of Manuela singing that was just done for his pleasure. He records ALL of his women singing, think about it.

Anyway, Prince should have left it a private thing and had Shelby J or another singer worthy of the honor. Anyway then Shelby or whomever could also sing them when they appear with him onstage.

So having looked up the meaning of Protege it seems to meen someone whose career you are sponsoring or getting started. I don't see P and B starting B's career anytime soon. Bria is about as much Prince's protege as Yoko Ono can be called Lennons protege. Sweet thing to do for her, not so special for the fans .

Month ago I said, maybe she just don't want to do music , it's enough for her

to be around him and she didn't want to promote it anyway.

The most of the songs are jam sessions and she was surprised bla bla... so she wasn't

focused on making music any longer. Because now she's happy to be just

with her man and quit it trying to be famous.

Maybe he put her forward when Prince was working on Planet Earth and

needed backing vocals.

stage with him. And he really put a lot of attention to her!(Oh, right, her "here I come"

was on the 3121 site! Of course they know each other for a couple of years)

Yes, she is really tall. She can't be just 5 Feet 9 she seems to be much taller.

I heard her hair was light brown back in the day with high lights

I guess like the picture with that brown bikini.

I don't think people hate the girl 4bjb she just doesn't have a strong enough voice to be a soloist. Think about it.

She is just as photogenic as plenty of women that have gotten contracts, xtina, Brittany, Rianna, Katey Perry, etc but she never got one. Why?

She spent plenty of years in L.A. so it wasn't like she was hidden in Scottland like Susan Boyle.

She has a parent,dad, as a musical mentor who certainly had connections that Susan Boyle lacked.

She is was more then willing to show some skin, as a certain video of her slipping off a silky blue kimono showed. What was underneath was alot more attractive then what Susan has and certainly she's not as matronly as Susan Boyle. So she has the f@#kability factor in her favor.

She was raised in Minneapolis which is a musical city.

She stayed in LA until last year so she was there at least 10 years.

She did work in the industry so she made her face known and wasn't hiding out.

So why, Oh why was she never picked up until Prince came along?

There are only a few possiblities.

She has no stage presence.

She has stage fright

Her voice is very inferior to what we hear in studio recordings.

Her voice, although pretty, is too blah to sell albums.

I did as Prince asked. I listened to her CD "all the way through" countless times just to give her a chance and truthfully, I think she is back-up singer material only. She is a great sexy coo-er. Her voice was suited well to Immersion. However there were many tracks on Elixer that I thought would be so much stronger if they were sung by a more powerful voice with a greater range.

I am not saying that Bria can't sing a note. What I am saying is that if you were to book a small venue and try to sell tickets to a show of Bria's the only people that would come were people in her family and those that believed that they might get a glimpse at Prince or that Prince might infact take the stage. She is a back-up singer, and that is better that a burger flipper but not exactly celebrity material.

I actually liked most of Bria's album, but I agree with you. Her voice is more inclined towards being a back-up singer... UNLESS she sticks to material that suit that soft sensual type of vocals she does best (i.e. songs like Immersion)... and you know... there's tons of people making music out there that have soft voices, but turn that into their schtich (sp?) and make that whats unique about them... (e.g. Liz Fraser, Bebel Gilberto etc)... but kinda also have to have personality to pull that off and a little something extra about them.

She gets there and Prince sees her, looks at her and doesn't say much. She, having clairvoyant abilities, introduces herself as Bria. She never dances nor sings for him and she never mentions either Morris or herself handing Prince a recording of anykind. Prince could no more know what she sang like or danced like they we did when we saw her sitting down on The Tonight show.

So why was Morris eager to introduce her. Well she was born in 1974 and she was 17 at the time which means it was around 1991.

Prince had alot of pretty ponies he like to ride in 1991 and maybe Morris thought his buddy would like one more.

Anna Garcia (Fantastic) was born 12/31/73 and she said she met Prince at around 16 but he wouldn't have sex with her until she was 18. 1973 plus 18 is 1991.

Mayte Garcia had a simular experience. Although she knocked his socks off when they met he would wait until she turned 18 to deflower her. D.O.B. 11/12/1973 . Again that's around 1991.

Nona Gaye said that they had a 3 year affair when she was a teenager. She was born September 4, 1974 and I have a feeling that in 1991 she was in his life but I can't say.

Last but not least is Martika. She claims that she lost her virginity to him when she was 21. She was born May 18th1969 and was 21 from May 18th 1990 to May 17th, 1991.

With all these women around Bria would have had to take his breath away for him to remember her.

He did not remember her.

That did not stop Morris from helping Bria get into Prince's inner circle of friends.

Finally she is where she wanted to be 19 years ago. She has even changed her name and her religion since meeting him. I think she is the first to do both.

Now unfortunately, because all that is going on in America, Prince feels the need to put his personal life on the backburner.

Personally, I think under all that there has to be a little bit of this .

(Should she choose to record again, I have some suggestions.

Aretha's "Chain of Fools" followed by Rhianna's "Breaking Dishes" and maybe eventually Gloria G.'s "I will survive" but I doubt she'll ever get there. She worked on getting where she is at for a good 15 years and she may just hold on another 15. )

I think she is like Carolyn Bessett Kennedy, the late wife of John F. Kennedy Jr. Sometimes her nose looked very long and sometimes it did not. I think it mattered the angle of the pics. Example, on the Tavis interview Bria's nose looked fine, on the Fox interview at the same time her nose looked a bit big. You can probably still pull both of them up on youtube and see what I mean.
