That's why I posted this thread. Everyone will not feel the same way in regards to the talent of various artists. But I must say, Jill Scott probably allowed Beyonce to sing tha song, because she knew damned well that she could not "rock it" like Jill.

Yanno, I've been on YouTube a lot lately, and there is a lot of hate..I'll even call it demonic hate aimed at Beyonce. All of that is not necessarily. Either folks like her voice, or they dont. But people on Youtube are calling her Satan Worshipers, and all kinds of bitches etc. It's ridiculous. Besides the nursery rhyme songs that Beyonce writes her self, and besides her timbre and the key that she sings in, and the scantly clad booty shaking. I have no problem with Beyonce. I am actually somewhat of a fan. BUT I'm not dubed like it appears that the contemporarly music listeners into thinking that she's the best thing since sliced bread. Because she isnt.

I wish people werent so mean to her by calling her bitches. She even released a song about it. I forget with it's called, but she speaking on the hate, and she says "I'm living my life, why dont you just live yours". I actually felt her pain in that song. I think it's sad.

However, I will continue to say that she is overexposed. And when you push someone on the masses the way that Beyonce has been pushed on us, it can have a very negative effect, because people start picking out your flaws. Oh well Beyonce, take some time off, have a baby or somethiing. I believe that she is the type of artist that can truly stand the test of times, as long as she gets better writters for her material.

But no way she can out sing Jill Scott, and that version that she did was a mockery of Lizel in E Flat. LOL.

Exactly. 2 different vocalists in 2 different genres. I'd still take Jilly from Philly vocally and Beyonce sexually.

Jill Scotts version of "Freakum Dress" was "Gimme" (but of course she didn't wear a freakum dress). And Beyonce as you can see from above clip tries to sing some of Jill's songs. So sometimes the genres do overlap.

2 Different styles

Jill Scott is a trained vocalist she can sing Opera, so of course the 'better' goes to Jill

Wow. Both are very talented. But I would have to pick Jill has being a better vocalist. Now if it was was for overall entertainment, I would pick Beyonce. Because she puts on a show. Jill's shows are ok. But Beyonce's are better.

I should have specified the word "vocally" in the title of this thread .

Beyonce is a great entertainer and she's attractive, and fun to watch. But vocally Jill Scott is by far the better vocalist, and it doesn't matter what genre she sings in. The same way that Celine Dion is by far a better vocalist than Rihanna. Doesn't matter the genre, it's in the control, tone, range, and actual ability of the voice.

It's a tie IMO. I rather like Bey's voice. Jill's voice is cool too although a bit deep/bassy at times. I get that people think Bey is an irritant when it comes to her stage pressence but come on...the girls' got some decent pipes! I still get a little when I listen to "Listen" from Dreamgirls.
