I found this excerpt from a book called "Mama: Latina Daughters Celebrate Their Mothers". The excerpt features Janice Garcia, Mayte's older sister, who makes some interesting comments about her family life. I've never heard Mayte talk about her family, but I always got the sense that they were really close-knit.
