Denise Matthews has grown so much. You can really feel her depth now. When you see footage of her after becoming born again, it's almost like you can't even believe that she is the same person. She was so shallow and appeared mindless in many interviews included the one posted. Perhaps she was high. She has a new book that is supposed to be coming out (or perhaps it's out by now) called "Blame it on Vanity". It's supposed to chronicle her life, and her accepting responsiblity for the things that happened in her life. I really am a big fan of both Sheila E and Vanity because both have overcome adversity (Denise's hurdles were/ are pretty high) and both blossomed into new and beautiful individuals (or at least it seems that way).

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

I'll believe that book exists when I actually see it on the shelves of a store somewhere.

As to the interview - its easy to believe she was high there.

I like how Sheila has never been one to put Prince on a pedistal. In turth, she would have been a successful drummer with or without him. Actually, she was already a successful drummer BEFORE him - he just aforded her even more opportunities by helping her to the forefront.

Yeah Sheila played with George Duke prior to being with Prince. She had an "Afro" and all. I believe that she was "on her way" with or without Prince. He just bought her to the masses. As far as Denise Matthews is concerned, A picture of her book is actually on her website and there is also a youtube clip of her talking about it. Like I said, I'm not sure whether it's been released or not.

Sheila may not have been a recording star if it had not been for Prince, but she was a successful musician before Prince.

I've even heard Prince say that he didn't think he could afford her (salary wise) when he approached her about playing together.

Would you believe that this is Vanity back in 2008. I can hardly recognize her at all.

Her demeanor in this interview reminds me of Whitney Houston.

Why does Carmen acting like he is ready to "hook up" with her?

I think she looks almost the same now, just a fuller face, and a little grey around the temple. Glad her faith has given her some peace of mind. She seemed so lost and sad in the Ebony/Jet Showcase clip.

one thing I like about this interview is that it shows the viewer one of Vanity's hidden talents, which is painting. Back in the day some of her work was sold around hollywood. She used to make surrealist/erotic art.
