Ripped from my own CD copy, the length is 2:46.

It is segued so maybe it depends where you're measuring the start of the track from, whoever tracked the CD obviously thought Romance 1600 (the song) ended with "Don't push in!"

Do you mean the album version? It's "Danke schoen" on there, not "don't push in."

To the OP, I've wondered about the soundboard recording of Live Romance 1600 too. There are a couple things missing. The very beginning of the Percussion Jam has what sounds to be the ending of a very cool version of Noon Rendezvous. I would love to hear it. And there must have been other songs performed at this concert as well. I don't know what the set list was, but I would imagine she would have done Belle of St. Mark and Oliver's House (but that's just a guess). No idea why things were left off the soundboard recording. I wish a complete show would circulate.

Is your CD copy the full, 55 minutes show? Does it exist? My copy is 45 minutes sad

My guess is that NouveauDance is talking about the actual Romance 1600 album, not the Live Romance 1600 performance.

YOu realize they're talking about the concert, hence "LIVE Romance 1600" The album is only 39 minutes, so obviously the 45 or 55 minute statement doesn't apply to the CD, but rather the San Francisco VHS.

Speaking of which, I TOTALLY need to get that on DVD again. hmmm

I wonder why Merci was left off the bootlegs. The boot "Meet My Heros" has All Day, All Night and Kiss from the soundboard, but no Merci. "Sheila E Warfield Theatre" has Kiss and the non-overdubbed and longer cut of A Love Bizarre.

I have the VHS - which I had to contact WB directly to get, and Merci is on it, but a complete show would be nice to find.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

WB had a small mail order business and Romance 1600 Live was one item they were closing out. Basically, I got the one of the last of the new-old-stock that they had on hand, since they originally told me they didn't have any.

Is "Pop Life" on any boot? I've seen the video of it from the Warfield performance but I don't think I've ever seen it on any boot.

I wonder why that night got so chopped up and segmented. Seems like Sheila, her band, Prince and the Revolution were all on fire that night. I'd love to hear the entire thing from start to finish.

I haven't seen Pop Life anywhere from this show. I'm kind of puzzled that only dribs and drabs have surfaced from the raw soundboard. Though, I am quite partial to the overdubbed official release. It still sounds live, but the overdubs added to the sound in a good way.

There r DVD boots 4 sale here & there but i don't wanna pay 4 boots anymore... and if i found a way to rip it from my VHS the sound would be disastrous... Though i'd be happy to get the entire show, what i want is to have it on digital the way it was released, video or audio... It's just damn insane that it can't be found sad

Was Live Romance 1600 ever available on LaserDisc?

I've dubbed my VHS to DVDR, and I have an audio rip of that, but if someone out there does have it on LD, they need to get on that! biggrin

Dred

I need to go back and watch this again. Sheila driving herself to the gig, the pajamas, Peter Michael's hair!, Karl killing it on Merci, the finger-banging during Glamorous Life, extended Revolution on stage WITH Sheila's band!! Good stuff there -- I took it for granted.

Thanks for the info, guess I need to be on the lookout for that...

MacDaddy

I bought that video on VHS before my parent even had a video recorder.

It's a great show and I love her version of Erotic City, (although way too short)

I assume the show was heavily edited because there were pictures on the back cover I never saw back in the video.

I remember those pics too... Always thought the sultry shot of her in the cape was a pic from perhaps "Bedtime Story." Anyone have a set-list from that west coast tour?
